My dad developed cellulitis in his leg early this week. He was admitted to the hospital early this week and they've been fighting the infection ever since. He has to go to surgery today to remove some damaged tissue in his leg and they've been hitting him hard with antibiotics.

He's really not doing great, although he does seem to be better than he was yesterday.

Please send some prayers. I'm really close with my dad, I hate to see him like this and scared I might lose him.

Your entire family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Good luck with the surgery.

Any idea what caused the infection or why it is so severe?

I only ask because last week I got cellulitis in my left leg. The doctors gave me a anti-biotic and some steroids and it seems to be clearing up. We were at Myrtle Beach and my family initially thought it was sun poisoning, till I went to the Dr.

How all goes well sending em up!

Yes sir, on the Prayers. I developed something in my left ankle/foot area, & wondered about a blood clot. ER thought it was cellulitis, & gave me some antibiotic. Followed up with my Primary Dr., & we felt like it was Gout. After about 3 weeks, & tired of putting up with Whatever, I visited a Foot & Ankle Dr. He got it right, > Phlebitis! But I had to go to a Vain Specialist, for any treatment. Three months of compression socks, seems to have cleared most of it up. I'm finding Many of my aliments, are taking 2-3 diagnosis, to get the Right one. Sounds like their doing right by your Dad.

My thoughts are with you and your dad. I hope all goes well with the surgery, and he is back to his old self soon.

They aren't sure what caused it. He retired about 6 months back and they recently moved into a new house and he has been doing yard work and helping my mom plant flowers and all, so his legs are constantly cut up. They think something just infected one.

The CT scan came back negative for any dead tissue, so that is good. The infectious diseases doctor got him on a targeted antibiotic and it seems to be working. I went over to see him this morning and the swelling has gone way down and things seem to be getting better. Surgeon is confident that they saved his leg, so he might not need any surgery at all. His knee down to below his ankle is basically one giant blister, so the skin is going to start tearing off now that it isn't so swollen so I'm sure he's not going to feel great here soon. I think he's on the top end of this though.

Doc just left, said everything is going good and they should be able to send him home after the weekend!

I'm thankful that they just moved 5 minutes from me in November, now I can help them out while he's recovering.
