Is cheese toast a common breakfast item? And what does it consist of?
 
Cheese toast in my house was a treat to have with dinner. It consisted of a piece of white bread with a slice of American cheese right out of the plastic wrapper placed on top and then that was put in the toaster oven (when we finally got one as they were ‘fancy’ we were not so much)
 
Chip beef gravy on toast. That’s the shit. On par with biscuits and gravy. Add some eggs and sausage or bacon or both...That’s breakfast.


Cheese toast, that’s bread with cheese in the oven on broil until the cheese bubbles and the bread looks crunchy. Good with any soup that’s good with a grilled cheese sammich. That’s a snack food/lunch thing IMO. Lazy mans grilled cheese. Add an egg to it, back to breakfast.
 
Cheese toast, American cheese on white bread, broiled till toasted. Not my favorite though. White bread, butter, cinnamon & sugar... now that was the shit growing up.
 
I don't know how 'common' anywhere but it was frequently offered for breakfast at my house growing up and I'm pretty sure my dad still makes it for my mom on the reg. Loaf bread is fine but a day-old biscuit is better.

*edited to add... OH, and it's sliced cheddar, no cheese food product.

While I never ate it much my mom and my sister made cheese toast for breakfast often enough. Occasionally mama will make it for my daughter when she stays with her. White bread with a slice of American cheese cooked in the toaster oven.

Toast the bread, add copious amounts of butter and slap a slice of American cheese on it x2. None of that processed cheese product shit either. For a added bonus I slap some chunky PB in there for good measure of protein goodness.
But, in a dispute that involves the wife unit you’re wrong. Stop and desist immediately!!
 
Cheeese toast is just a grilled cheese sandwhich where you ran out of bread.

Thus - dinner food.

Well....I'd just describe that as wet...but, I'll allow it.
 
My great grandma used to make it to go along with everything else in the morning. A thick slice of cheddar from the block on white bread in the oven just hit the spot in the morning before going out to the hay field all day.

Cheese toast and peanut butter? Boy have you lost your mind because we’re about to go find it?!?!

Jalapeño cheese spread on wheat snack bread. Where the hell did you get peanut butter to put on that shit and why would you do it?
