SHENANIGANS

So here we go on Shenanigans 2.0…

It worked out perfect just to wheel the Ellis saw over and just lop off the spindles. Trim back the truss all the way back to the shock mounts and lower link mounts. This is to give enough room for a proper weld on the new SOLID inner C’s. Plans to plate that back in.

Dropped out the ring gear. Then we assembled both knuckles including the spindles so the alignment rod can true everything up. This setup had pucks that clamp in place of the center section bearings and sleeves that thread onto my D60 spindles.

My new front axle is an ECGS 14 Bolt that our resident axle guru, @Jody Treadway helped me spec out. I’m not baller enough to go 40 spline for plenty of reasons. Man’s gotta draw the line somewhere. Transferred all my SOLID outer stuff onto the new 14B. Artec truss and link tabs. This is as far as we got this 3 day marathon.

Already made the call to Branik and have custom inner shafts in the works.

This post is so very gay ...but so very awesome at the same time

Super badass !

Do you plan to weld a plate or something to reinforce the truss on the rear axle here :

something like that :

That BTF truss came on the 14B when I bought it way back when. We added the Artec wings when Shenanigans was first built. Don’t have any plans to fill those gaps. That’s currently where I run my axle straps through to tie her down.

That pesky d60 pinion shouldnt be an issue at triple threat this year now :smokin:
Pretty sure you were the first one to recommend the 14 bolt the day I broke it. I tried exploring the whole Jana 76 option, but just couldn’t convince myself it was gonna be strong enough.

Thats exactly what I have been planning for my rear 14bolt, I've had the axleshafts assembled and sitting in a box for a couple years now. This might get me to finally get started, going to be sweet man.

You made the right decision for the long run. And 40 spline is still an option if you ever needed it.

Basically the only difference is a little more ring gear diameter. The pinion size is pretty much the same so still the weak point.

Ring gear size and pinion support. Inner shafts are just a tad bit bigger diameter also.

I meant between the 60 and the 76 kit. Should’ve specified that. Haha. The 14 bolt is better all the way around for sure.

In that case, I totally agree with you. 🤣

Rear axle is completely assembled minus the hydraulic hoses. Front axle has the paint drying. Don’t see why we can’t finish it all up in 2 weeks when I go back to Mayberry.

Now do it with you in it :D
This ain’t Ultra 4. If I get ready to race, I’ll shed lots of unnecessary weight first.
