anyone have any experience buying storage/shipping containers? i find myself in need of one.

I had a friend that bought a 53' fully enclosed and had it delivered for ~$2000. Unless you already have a decent foundation layed, they will just drop it straight on the ground to rust. I guess it varies by company too. For what you get, its well worth it.

Check your local Craigslist first and then call around different trucking companies.

My brother in laws friend knows somebody that sells them off hickory tree rd. He has a 40' container in his back yard that He said cost him 800 delivered.

can you get me more info please I also need one.. but I want a 20'

Yeah I'll try to get a number for the guy in the next few days.

I've got access to them through an old college roomate but its been a while since I priced them.

Get a list together of what we are looking for and I'll get some prices. He gets them off the docks in Charleston, SC and has holding yards in Greeneeville SC and Charlotte.

I know the place you're talking about. A quick google map search of where it is makes me think it's:
Midway Trailer Rental
11942 Old US Highway 52,
Winston Salem, NC 27107
(336) 764-0883
Actually looks like its on Fred Sink road, just off Hickory tree, even though it a Old US52 address!
Look at a Street view on google maps of 221 Fred Sink RD winston salem. I'm sure this is the place. I see it every time i exit 52N onto Hickory Tree.

I wish I knew of a place in the Triangle

Might not be able to hook you up with the container itself, but I do know a place that can hook you up with anything you'd need to pick one up, move one around, get it up off the ground, or tie one down!

I've always thought it would be great to find one with doors on both ends, long enough to park 2 vehicles in.

If the # above isn't correct, try this one. This is the one it showed me at that location. I live right down the road from there.

Keep in mind theres a huge difference in a shipping container and a semi trailer. The containers are all metal versus fiberglass/alum.The $800 is probably for a semi trailer, thats what I paid apiece for both of mine.Good cheap storage but if you have a nice landscaped place and no where to hide em they can be kind of an eye sore.

The one my brother in laws friend has is a connex container. Found out last night that he's related to the guy that sells them so may have been a family discount type deal. He is supposed to be getting his number for me today and I'll pass it along then.

I've always heard they were chopped up and sent back to China as scrap?

This seems like an item that would be best found by beating the bushes in which they breed? I'd place a few calls to Wilmington if I was in the market... And don't forget to ask "well do you know anybody else that might" before ending any phone calls. Everybody knows somebody that might know somebody...

Not in your area, but heres a local place that sells and delivers them. They have some of their prices listed so maybe it'll give you an idea of cost...

That's the on I was thinking of, Can see them right beside I-85, at W.Gastonia/Bessemer City exit!
Then you have to consider delivery. I "think", they can use a "roll off" trailer, to drop it.

Here is the web site of that guys place. Same address as listed above. Not sure of the guys name but tell whoever you talk to that Derek Reeves told you to call and maybe you will get a better deal.

Well he just sent me his name. Talk to Zeno Marshall Jr.

800 is a steel for a true connex, all I have found are 2k or higher on 20 footers. Most of these are brought on big roll backs for ease of off loading. The big boys require the semi. Hickory Trailer Trailer Sales and Service deals in them and delivers. They dont mind the miles to deliver but you'll pay for each one.

They have several in stock on the yard pre painted and inspected. I walked through several while shopping.
