240 years ago folks. I bet the same creativity and forward thinking in today's world would make an impressive impact on mankind. Imagine the forward thinkers, the inventors that were never influenced by such a creation because they simply never heard of it. In today's world such innovation would span the globe in a matter of minutes. Creepy or not, I would venture to say it would be difficult to duplicate (without reverse engineering) even today.
