I've done from Branchville (South of Orangeburg) to the coast before. When I lived in Charleston. It was awesome. That black water does something to the soul.

the guys are retired game wardens, one of their sons is a professional fishing and hunting guide. they come down to NC every year to deer hunt for a couple weeks at thanksgiving because one of them is originally from NC. My buddy went for the salmon run for a couple weeks when he graduated college. they keep telling us they aren't getting any younger and were stupid for not coming now when we got free places to stay, eat and people to guide us. But its hard to be starting a career and then walk in one day and say im taking 8 weeks off see ya later.

I would like say the same thing. Hopefully one day I will have the finances/nerves to take the risk and give up a steady paycheck. The little we do here at the house, "on the side" really seems to bring peace and enjoyment. I dont have the property for cows, currently; but I hope to at some point, as I enjoy helping out friends when I get the chance.
 
Wheel Ouray, CO ......Black Bear pass, Imogene Pass, Ouray perimeter trail, PoughKeepsie Gultch, Engineer Pass to name a few (leaving next week to check this one off! :D)
Rubicon trail, just because I have heard about it all of my life, seen pics/videos and want to add it to my been there done that list.

Overall I have been blessed and been able to check off most all of my bucket items in my life. With really only one left, I am sure I will get it checked off sooner that later. God willing of course!

1) see my daughter graduate high school
2)see my son graduate college
3) see my daughter graduate college
4) hold my first grand child
5) give away a house
6) start a college scholarship fund to help change generations and improve my community.

I so long to spend a month or so in Reno again, hang out with some outlaw bikers, swim the frigid waters of lake Tahoe, hike up the snow filled mountain tops of Tallac and Rose, smoke the finest green and fall in love all over.

I topped out a limiter deleted Gix 1000, pretty close to 200. Did it twice. I wouldn’t ride a sportbike these days, I’m over it.

Essentially how we are tackling it too. We both work full time with good careers and insurance. Still doing property work now with hopes of the first small herd starting late this year or early next year. Then also trying to figure out every way we can without having to use grants and programs that may tie us into things if a market was to fizzle out and we needed to adjust.

This is the problem right now, Beef is high in the store but bringing low prices at the auction. I think we are going to try and process some and sell it as grass feed maybe do a little grain to finish them, since I can price it not much more than the grocery store.

DO IT. we have some guys at work that have cattle and they make decent money selling full, 1/2 and 1/4 cows. IF you can find a USDA butcher to cut for you and resale the profit only goes up.
