Any good Starter/Alternator rebuilders in the RDU area that are worth a damn? Even over toward Burlington would be ok.

Got two Ford/NewHolland starters that need freshened up. Stealerships want a pile for new ones and I just don't have the time to have .com chinamen remans shit out on me.

Johny's auto & marine in Garner near the Lowe's is supposed to be pretty good. Never used them personally, went in to get the starter from my forklift rebuilt but the lead time was more then I could afford (needed asap).

This. Have used many times. Old school place.
The old school places with old school tech understand how it all works and how it fix it right.. as long as it's not Forest City starter alternator. (He was good, but quality of service went down the last 30 years, from what I'm told and experienced). Equipment is only as good as the operator. If they don't know how to run a growler, just leave.

i just took a starter for a 1968 Hyster H360 with a 4cyl Detroit to Johnny’s, had one on the shelf ready to go....
was expecting some down time as it was OBS/NLA everywhere we checked.

turns out the starter itself is fairly common, the lookups not so much.
