STUCK IN UWHARRIE. HELP!!!!!!!

Any chance that this/these fucker(s) are the ones that took down that fence and burned it? Was there this past weekend and there was a newly made fire pit right at the bottom of the hill and someone had pulled the fence down and burned it. WTF....you are in a goddamn forest, there is wood everywhere.

That's rediculous.
But I somehow doubt they burned it just for firewood - if so, the yreally are idiots, considering all the toxic chmicals that are in treated wood

are you allowed to burn wood from the forrest for your fire? i didn't know that, i just haul'd in my own wood. be a lot easier if i didn't have to deal with that

DEAD FALL ONLY

you can pick up all the dead wood you can carry, but it better be on the ground, you get caught felling a tree and you have big problems.

and if you are operating a chainsaw in the forest, you need to have a permit and certification from the ranger station ( requires a class, a very interesting one at that ) also need to have the protective gear ( helmet, glasses, chaps )

Most times you will see that the ones operating the chainsaws on work days are the ones who have these qualifications or the Rangers themselves. BUT NOT ALWAYS.

in 2000 a group of us took the class in Early March to clear trails of trees fallen from the huge snow fall that year. Dunno IF or how long that certification lasts, I'm quite sure I am out of date by now.

^ yep.

We usually bring a little bit of wood with us for a good fire, but I have never been there and had a shortage of downed wood. A 5 min walk through the woods normally nets us enough wood to use for the weekend.

lol, why not just peel some siding off of the outpost if all you need is a campfire.

What idiots. i hope they got caught and charged. probably not though.

^^hm, that's a little more upscale than the Wal-mart andtrash bags I normally use.
When I'm feeling fancy, it's a Tupperware.

I agree w/ Sam.

I'm a wheeler 1st zuke guy 2nd ( well...maybe )

But I've been in on several rough, time consuming recoveries...and it didn't matter what he wheeled.
Dragging a stoopid kid w/ a flopped jeep ( it was there 6 hrs.)
off of Daniel was one long night I'll never forget, but do again in a heartbeat.

Matt

btw- I've also discovered OBA will make a lot of new friends.

I remember that night. That's the night I spent my fat behind on daniel eating leftover Zeno's, steered the jeep up daniel while it was being winched after it threw a rod through the block and then drove an hour and a half 1 way at 2 am to trailer the kids rig home for him

I bet he was with the group of rovers, and they all just left him there, since most of their toolkits consist of a cell phone and a checkbook.

Taking this thread back around to the landrover guys...just happened to see this in the Northern Tool catalog today....for the discriminating LR owner that actually owns any tools:

:D

Sounds like all they need is a purse to hold the cell phone and checkbook.

only dead stuff. we sell firewood at the Mountain Market just in case it rains or what not. last summer there was a small group of people camping and they had pulled some logs into their camp that still had green leaves on them. rangers saw it and gave them a ticket for cutting down the tree even though they didn't. guess that's one thing to definitely make sure of.
