Super Duty Axles

The 450 and 550 axles are also 10 lug or the huge 8 lug pattern, so there's not much of a chance of mixing them up. If I'm not mistaken, you can swap the 1550 stuff in to the other axles, but I don't remember if the stubs are the same.

If you take a peak at the F-450/550 DRW 60's, they use an 8-lug (would bet it's 8x170) to 10-lug adapter. They are also wider (3" IIRC) than a comparable F-350 DRW 60... according to a friend that built one to convert his 2WD F-450 to 4WD after installing the F-450 tie-rod and the tires were like \ / :D

Yep, they use the same 8x170 bolt pattern. The 450/550 models are what they dubbed the "Super 60", if I'm not mistaken. They have even heavier axle tubes and I believe they use a 10" ring gear.

the 05 dana 60 that came from an f250 had the 10in ring gear factory.

Only if it was stamped with 256. 248 is still a 9.75" ring gear.

As promised, here's the part numbers I used.

TXK8607T lower ball joints
TXK80026 upper ball joints
DS300008 axle side drag link end
ES80754 left tie rod end
ES80755 right tie rod end
45D2395 axle side panhard bar ball joint
100712V pinion seal
710685 knuckle/stub shaft seals
710492 inner differential/carrier seals
AR85107XPR Power Stop drilled/slotted rotors
171069 Power Stop Z16 ceramic pads (factory are semi metallic, which I refuse to use)

The axle shaft u joints are your standard Dana 60 application, so no surprises there.[/QUOTE

Bringing this thread back up... I am in the process of replacing the ball joints on my 08 SD D60 and I am having a hard time seating the taper it seems on the lower ball joint (PN TXK8607T). @Croatan_Kid did you have issues with the knuckle being stiff to rotate once the lower ball joint nut was tightened. Since it it is a locking nut it seems that the excess friction it is taking a lot of force to tighten the lower nut to get the stud to stop spinning.

I also heard that 08 might be a split year for different ball joint tapers, but I have not found any other reference to that anywhere. Has anyone heard of this?

Not sure. I used my impact and bumped it until the nut was tightened up to the bottom of the knuckle.

I want to say they were the same 05-10 and 11+ got bigger brakes and such. Not sure about any other differences.

I just noticed ECGS has 1550 joint chromoly shafts pretty damn cheap. Not sure how well the ujoints will be but for under $1600 that’s damn good.

also...the 2012 and up offered an e locker in the f250s. I just scored one to put in my 07 axle. Green plug fancyness

For future reference it's 2011 and up. And any truck with the FX4 or offroad package has it.

No uggaa or duggas, just snugged them up until the shanks didn't spin and then torqued them to whatever the specs were.
