Tera Low 231 HD or Atlas

My son re-geared his TJ to 4.88 in the diffs, and runs 35's. Perfect for the hwy. it does have the five speed manual tranny.
But I think he'd like more on the low side of the t case for the trail though.
He went from stock gears and 33's and 10-11 MPG, to 15-16 mpg with the 35's and re-gearing

I will chime in on the 4.88s. I went from 4.10s to 4.88s and in all honesty it was not that big of a difference that I felt on the street. I can use 5th gear a lot more now. I don't drive the jeep everyday, but when I do drive it to work I am on the highway for 10 minutes or so, and it does 65 no problem, turning 2500-3000 RPMs. I am still contemplating a different transfer case, but I have been in a lot more situations where I needed wheel speed than than crawler speed (I do like the skinny pedal though)

I'm toying with the idea of getting a set of DIY beadlocks and 35s for anytime I load the TJ on the trailer (away games). Since its geared 4.11 now for the 33's it drives perfect for that setup. And if I swap wheels/tires for Harlan, adventure, moab, etc it would be ideal to have that low transfer gearing for the 35s but still maintain drivability for my wife/son/daughters should they want to drive it on the road.

I say either the 241or or Atlas, after having 4.1 case for a long time there is no way I would want to do without it , so much more control. Just have to remember that wheel speed in 1st is not happening.

Regular trail riding will just be in 4th gear instead of 1-2nd. Any speed and I am back in 2wd

I actually went the opposite when I went to 4.88s, 33s for the trail and 35s for the street.
