The #1 shop tool that you don't have

Saw that on Shark Tank.
Really cool, they went and talked to several guys in a shop about it.
The general opinion seemed to be that it would be awesome to have - but was awfully pricy, too much so for your typical backyard mechanic to justify.

They were trying to figure out how to bring the manufacturing cost down w/o sacrificing quality. Good luck w/ that...

a better tool is a car lift :)

that works fine, as long as you have a smooth floor, as long as you have the room under and around the vehicle to maneuver, as long as there aren't any air hoses, drop cords, nut, bolts, tools, rocks, small furry critters.

Ever caught a shirt tail or jacket in a creeper wheel? how about the draw cord for your hoodie hood? imagine doing that under power now, should be a laugh riot, if you escape without injury.

pretty much just like a regular creeper, they are great in ideal conditions, but those conditions aren't normal, and unless you have the space to operate, it's pretty pointless.

one of the many garage solutions that copious amounts of $$$$ don't really solve.

Yeah, creepers are only good for two things: getting you up off a cold concrete floor and getting stuck on tiny pieces of garbage.

Pretty neat, though...

cardboard, the heavier the better, great insulator from the cold floor, absorbs most of the oil mess, and easily replaceable , does get kinda warm when welding around it though.....

And I have a selection of creepers with busted wheels....cant imagine what Kev dos to them :flipoff2:

Kev doesn't, I bought one creeper when I started in car dealership, replaced the wheels 2 times, cardboard is MUCH cheaper and a lot less painful. I have a creeper seat, the wheels have been ground almost off, when it gets too uncomfortable to use ( don't care if it moves ) I'll replace the whole seat, ($60 for a set of wheels on a $90 chair, fawk that ! ) it's 10years old, I think I got my money out of it. It still lives in my service van.

i got a buddy with long hair in a ponytail. he was on the creeper under the rig
and his hair got tangled in the wheel. i was inside and could not hear him
hollar. old boy had to wait about 10 min till i got out there to help him get
untangled. i can't think what that would be like on a power creeper.
kinda funny really and we both joke about it often.

...I didnt fit in it. My shoulders are as wode as the wheel pockets

THIS, I test drove one of the Bone Creepers, they roll nice but if it ain't comfortable and easy to maneuver on ( let alone move around ) whats the point ?

Cardboard or some thick foam/rubber type stuff...not sure what it is, but my uncle gave me a roll of it and it works great. Doesn't have the problem with rocks poking through it like cardboard does!

That fancy one looks good for someone with a bad back/bad joints or maybe an older person who has trouble getting up and down off the ground.

I've been using a cheap wooden one I think I got at Wal-Mart or one of the standard parts stores for many years. No problems. My only complaint is I wish it was slightly longer (4-6"). I only weigh about 185-190 lbs though.
