Its the trans and the shifter cable adjustment. I've got some forward and no reverse. Motor sounds spectacular...

Well I have moved this under its own power and spun the front tires. However I still can't find reverse.

I think it has to do with the shifter and the cable linkage to the lever on the trans. When the shifter is in park the lever is in park. How ever as I move the shifter thru the gears it changes. But when the shifter is in third the lever is also in third.

This trans does have a reverse manual valve body and the shifter is a B&M rachet shifter. To be honest I really don't like the shifter and am talking myself into an Art Carr or something along those lines. I am not sure if that will fix my issues or not. I would like to think it would fix the issue, but in all honesty probably not.

I have had it up on the lift and will be measuring for a driveshaft in the rear. Shocks will also be measured. GOing to run some cheap white bodies and I'll be buying one tire at a time. probably toyo MT's in a 37.

Also everything on this jeep seems to leak the more I am running it.
 
This one wants to sink. When are we going to ride Stretch? This bike keeps taking some solid crashes but won't break...
 
and another up date. Disconnected the shifter from the trans and tried to shift it into reverse by hand. Still won't find reverse. It has forward though. Not sure what is going on. But it looks like the trans is coming out.
 
Trans is out of it. In some sick way this is a blessing. The transfer case could use some love and I am going to look at a few things that have been bothering me with some of it.

Start to finish was about three hours. I was a lone and not really in any rush. More avoiding grad school work then trying to finish it.
 
Worst part about not running for long periods. Especially automatic transmissions. They don't like to sit for long periods. The seals, gaskets, and o'rings just dry out and shrink. And everything in an automatic depends on it's internal seals, gaskets, and o'rings!

I would be pretty sure that is also prime suspect in why everything is else is leaking.
 
Got the trans back. Installed last night and drove it.

This morning drove it out for a little flexing.

Things left
Brakes. They don't work.
Rear drive shaft
Find lockouts for the street
Shocks. Measure and install.
Burn out!

No updates on the jeep. In MI for a few days so I'm helping dad with his little toy.

Its a little experimental composite plane. I've never been up in this one. I weigh too much. But it cruises around 140mph on 65hp.

Getting close. I need to source the elbow that comes out of the brake booster for vacuum. The parts store said I could only get that if I ordered an entire booster assembly.

Order a booster, take the elbow, and send the booster back! LOL. Probably pick one up at the junkyard free or damn cheap. Jeep looks good man.
 
Well the tear driveshaft showed up. Installed. Perfect fit.

HELP section of some parts stores carry these in a multi pack with new o-rings

I am over the brakes on this stupid thing. I am going to replace the calipers again. I replaced the master and bench bled it. It got super firm. Installed the new master. Once I figured out the spacer for the pedal I started bleeding. I put a soft line in and by passed the cutting brake. With the vacuum booster hooked up the pedal has not feel. Just falls to the floor.

I am going to load it on the trailer and take it back to the trans shop as it has a leak and they are going to take care of it. I have installed the rear drive shaft and moved it around. Still only in low range. It doesn't take long for it to get hot. That is with the fan on. I am probably going to have to build a shroud for it.

It is so close.... If I could get brakes I would have it inspected and take it out to do sme testing.

I do hate the shifter. I need to find an art carr or winters to replace this one. should make it a little better to move around....

Also it is getting new shoes this weekend...
