hi guys. WE ARE COMING>>OMG:):):):):):rockon:!! we took a trip to Wilkesboro today to see how the wife would do with her attacks away from home and she did great..THANK YOU LORD!! so she has made commitment to come next weekend. SO, can anyone please help me with a affordable place/hotel/motel/lodging "as close" as possible to the place with possible indoor pool for little girl...and anything around there you guys know of to check out. we are coming Friday after school lets out but don't plan on wheeling until saturday but can i still come and drop off trailer with jeep there instead of at the hotel so it's ready for saturday. I'm new and don't know how this kind of thing works. Thank you for anyone who has given prayers for her in the other thread to make it and for your advise with this.

There is a hotel right beside of the property. Literally within walking distance. I think it is the Hilton inn but not positive.

It is the Hilton

There are a couple of more affordable places across the interstate that are cleaner than I wouldexpect for the $ of the room. Be warned, it's not a Hilton!

Many people camp at The Flats as well, which is likely the most affordable. But, does not include an indoor pool

is it the Hampton INN??? i see a Hampton Inn but no HIlton and i gotta book now cause all the others are taken up already apparently

SWEET>>I"M going to book it right now while there's still a chance...boy oh boy..i'm like a little kid going to disney world..i think i'm gonna have anxiety problems this week LOL

Can't wait to see you guys!!!

WE ARE BOOKED FOR 2NIGHTS AT THE HAMPTON INN which was told is walking distance to the Park!! OMG...ok so it's me,my wife, and daughter 9 i'll be wheeling sat and if nothing breaks LOL, some on sunday. the wife mostly walks with her anxiety so mostly me riding so HOW MUCH??? thank you

wouldn't surprise me if there was a whole nother "winning pot" for the bets made on me LOL. i know for years people been waiting to see me come and show off but honestly that's not what this trip is about guys. The wife is really trying to expand horizons on her anxiety/panic attacks stages and we are looking for some family fun and YES i'm looking for a challenge for my jeep BUT not to beat it to hell. I'm hoping someone can lead me on some of the trails once there that would be considered doable or close to doable for my xj setup...c'mon guys don't lead me down a path to carnage LOL!!! with my vacation money in this trip i won't nothing leftover to fix any major breakage so point me to some stuff that i actually might stand a chance at...not just so you can get a good laugh lol. I am very very exited to meet everyone and watch the crazy stuff too!!

Locked front and rear you should be able to do most trails "if" its dry if its wet that's a whole other game
ha ha very funny, from the videos i've seen so far i don't know if i can do half of them but again, i've never gotten to see what locked f&r can do with good tread. i was just getting ready to ask if anyone has any videos of some XJs on some of the trails..i've watched lots of the buggys but i get better ideas of the trail by seeing similar like vehicle tacle it. i might be locked front and rear but 1. with my axles can't do much rpms, 2. steering kinda sucks when locked i'm mostly in 3wheel unless i'm going straight up, 3. i hope is kinda dry but with all this rain lately and some this coming week..i don't think we're going to have issues with "too dry" which will yes, def make things very interesting.

is this as steep as it looks or what...cause that looks pretty good and is it doable...did that xj make it

Its pretty steep but doable no real holes on it but you have to have wheel speed on it... Trust me on that one. I have a xj last time I was there I was on 33s locked front limited slip rear. And I was doing all but the hardest trails. Its never truely dry there. If your in parking lot looking up the park go left to right for the most part right side is where harder trails are

i've got spare front and rear driveshafts (plenty of those) but axle shafts not but i put in new HD ujoints and its the older D30 disco which is hard to find the right outer or both for that matter but if you do have some extras for that disco 30, bring em and name your price and would gladly take a set off your hands since it would be nice to have spares for now. i kinda figured my D35 and D30 will hold up as long as it holds up and if either goes, won't bother me one bit to hobble it back to the trailer. i don't expect them to take me too too far but as long as i stay off the rpms, usually they hold up.

its all good..i will be alright. been goin this long without breaking on so i'm sure i will manage to keep this one in tact. after all, that's why its coming on a trailer if something happens, it will just hobble back on to it but i will wait towards end of dayish to try some of the harder trails.
we are coming Friday after school lets out but don't plan on wheeling until saturday but can i still come and drop off trailer with jeep there instead of at the hotel so it's ready for saturday. I'm new and don't know how this kind of thing works
so will this work to do this and leave it

CRAP! now I wish I was going...

The left-to-right rule of thumb isn't bad actually. Seems like there's a trail map floating around here somewhere. I'd suggest finding some people there with similarly-built rigs and following them around.

Yea my first outing at the flats I thought I didn't need the map they gave me at the gate so I ended up on one of the hard core trails and what was funny is I was in a open front&rear tj on 33's I knew something was up when all I seen was buggys and they where all stopped watching I made it out of that trail and my wife started looking at the map every trail we would hit after that
