I saw this link a few years ago, probably here on this site.

My fitness level has been sliding greatly over the past 10 yrs, 3 kids in 5 years hasnt helped at all. Every couple months I get down and squeeze out 10-20 pushups, but that's really all I do. I'm gonna commit to this program and see what happens.
Who's in?

Interesting. I may try it also this. I can do 25 at a time. I have been doing 100 crunches every other morning. I can say that totally made my back so much better by the strengthening it has done for my stomach.

I was doing it for a while, never finished. I was doing physical therapy at the same time and ended up a couple weeks in a row w/PT on the same day I was supposed to do pushups. I'd come home beat from therapy and couldn't swing pushups too.

I'll give it another shot, though.

I think I made it to week 5-ish a while back, probably a year and a half ago actually! I think I posted the link here then...

I'm down with starting Jan. 1!

I am in. I need to improve my fitness (especially since I am about to hit 40) and the P90/Beach Body program isn't for me. Starting Jan 1, I will do the 100 push-up challenge (M, W, F) coupled with the 200 sit-up challenge (T, TH, Sat). I do, however, reserve the right to drop one of the challenges at my discretion, to be started back up at a later date :flipoff2:

I've been doing p90X for 6 weeks now. I've lost about 15 lbs and am in the best shape of my life. I actually wore the suit my grandfather gave me for my high school graduation last weekend. Hasn't fit me in like 12 years.

The hard part is buying clothes now. I used to be a loose XXL/tight XL shirt. Now my XLs look too big on me, but my arms and shoulders are too big for a L shirt. I guess it is time to hit the big and tall store now.

Easy to do until you get into week 5/6 and really follow the reps/sets... it's pretty tough...

that's why i'm repeating week 4. trying to do the sets with only 60 secs between got me. I ended up doing well but it wasn't where I though I should be. I've got to start today at some point. work's killing me. I usually shut the door at lunch and go through my sets. it's already 3 and I've yet to get away from my desk.

So the better question is - why would you still HAVE a suit that you havn't been able to wear for 12 years?

I'll play.

Because I look so damn good in it.....when it fits.

When it doesn't fit I look like a stuffed sausage.

Because his grandfather gave it to him.....The better question should be, why would you throw away something that your grandfather gave you? Sorry, guess I am sentimental.

Have you ever seen people do crossfit?

That stuff is INSANE. One of my good friends does it, I had never seen it until like 2 weeks ago. He was a nerdy guy in high school, not really built or anything. Now he is a rock, for his height, easily one of the biggest guys in terms of muscle size and tone.

I watched him do a workout routine at his house the other day. He lifted a 110 or so pound punching bag from the ground to over his head in less than a second, with only 2 or 3 seconds inbetween sets.

Also watched him take a kettle bell (70 pounds) with one arm, up from the floor, to over his head in a second or 2, 2 or 3 seconds inbetween sets.

Both sets were not a standard 10 or so, it was more like 20 or 30. Pushups were included, probably close to 75 in a very small period of time.

that is a pretty good workout. I can already do 100 push-ups. I have been in the military though for 13 years now and little over 6 years left to retire. I actually used it to help me out.

I did my initial test this evening. 10 was no prob, I paused for a half sec, then hit 15. By 20 I was fading, and one by one got to 25. 26 was pretty tough, I called it quits there. 27 could probably have happened, but it would have been ugly and I would have had to redo #27, fawk that, quit with dignity.

So then I was gonna try some squats, maybe do the 200 squats program. They're free and easy, they don't hurt til 36 hrs later, what the heck. I was knocking them out, well over 30 when I realized I was no longer counting. Started re-counting at one, but lost track again. I had a little burn going on, so I stopped; it must have been well over 50.

Then I did 40 situps, but didnt feel motivated to max out.

My plan is to start Monday with week 3 of the pushup program. I guess I'll give the squats program a try, just need to get some mental discipline for counting. I'll do some situps to round out the deal.
Mon-Wed-Fri here I come...

I'm in!! Some may remember this threadhttp://nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68075&highlight=cholesterol At that time in July I weighed 226lbs I started eating right and running. By the middle of August I was running three miles 2-3 times a week and was feeling on top of the world. By Sept. 1 I was weighing 190 lbs.. Since it has gotten cold I slacked off on my running and w/ the holidays my diet has slipped. I'm still hovering between 192 and 195lbs. But I want to feel on top of the world again so I think this would be a good thing to do during the winter and very little time w/ a newborn in the house. I also have to go back to the doctor Jan 14th to have my cholesterol checked again and I'm hoping it has come down but I'm still afraid I'll have to take the pill he also wanted me at 200lbs by then which I have done. I just hope I can start on week three. I'm going to do my initial test tomorrow and I'm hoping I can start on week three on Monday so I can tell the doc I can do 100 push ups.

I'm in starting January 1. I've got a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and judging by my blood pressure readings over the past 6 months, he ain't gonna be happy with me.

Just did my initial a while ago. I got 43. probably could have stretched out a couple more but I had a two year old trying to climb on me. I get to start on week three but after looking at week five and six I'm kinda wondering about this.

Guys that are going to start Jan. 1 if your anything like me I never start a resolution. So you might as well go ahead and start now and don't put it off.

I have been working out regularly for years, but am going to do this too. I did my initial test late last week and only got 28. I am going to start today.

I have a bad shoulder though that I have learned to work with/work around over the years. I am a little afraid this may cause it to have problems, but I am going to give it a shot anyway.

I think I'm in too. I've gotta lose weight by January 26th and this along with a better diet should help. Having surgery in Feb so this could only help with that too. I'll go and try my initial tonight. I got $5 saying I max out at 3. :)
