the hundred push ups training program

I started this week at week 3, column 3. Monday was pretty tough. Wednesday was a challenge but I got through it. Friday just plain kicked my ass. I'm going to repeat week 3, column 3 next week to see how it goes. If I can meet the numbers I'll stay with column 3. Otherwise...well I'm trying to be optimistic so I'm planning on meeting the numbers in the plan.

I got sick so had to stop. I'll see abour resuming this workout when I get better.

Start this evening with week one. Only got 20 on my initial try on Sat. Hell to get old. Doing the Mon,Wed, Fri jig.

Hey Steve and gang...I have been lurking and reading this thread.

Saturday night, I did a few push-ups just to test the waters...I squeezed out 15 or so and it started burning some( as it should) I could have probably pushed harder and done maybe 25 total...but I didnt push it at all really.

Today would be my start time too.

I only did 15...but I know I could have done more.

question is..which week/column should I start in? I'm thinking I should start in a lesser skill level and work up, so as not to be out of my league.

Such a shame too, cause I ''used'' to do lots of pushups without even breaking a sweat.

I think today is the day I'll start this... maybe tomorrow .... or some other day, but I do think today is as good as any other day... so maybe any other day is just as good.

Dylan,
I am starting week one column 3. Being the young'n you are that same starting point should be a cake walk. Unless there is a height factor not on the sheet..

Yes, i'm ALOT and I mean ALOT younger than you..lol(for the short joke:flipoff2:) But I have been a dumbass since age 15. I have smoked way too much since then. I'll bet your lungs are in way better shape than mine.

That said..I am drasticaly cutting back on smoking..was a pack a day sometimes more and now the last few days..only about 6 to 10 cigs smoked.<---very good for me.

Yep, I'm younger, but probably worse than you ..health wise.

I will start in the same place as you. Right after supper.

Let me see if this is right.. I do 10/rest then 12/rest then 7/rest..7/rest?

I started today. I didn't bother with the initial test. I also started out with week one column 3. I did what they asked and on the last set I maxed 15. I could've done more but I got to be able to work tomorrow. I also figure that I'll start out slow and work my way up. Didn't want to get ahead of myself.

ok...I'm done for today(Monday)

push ups I did...10....12...7....7....Then I did a burn of 20. I am feeling it!

I just had to push it...I started the sit-ups program too. 15-18-10-10 max 14

sit ups suck!

I'm going to try my best to keep up both programs. The wifey is trying it too.

How did you guys do?

Me too.
10,12,7,7 and ended with 15, i am taking a little more conservative at the last set so i do not tear myself up to ruin it for the next time. One day or rest or not, i know i would still fit it.

Got through the first set. Damn those last oones really burned. Got 12 on the last set, have to use my arms tomorrow too. Also ran 2 miles on the treadmill

I think that you guys on here will actually help motivate me.
steve did the treadmill...I think I'll go get the pedal bike thingy back out of the storage building. It was previously used as a coat and hat rack..lol

wish there was a way to gather us all up and see who is all doing this without going back through this same thread.

Someone start a new thread on wed. to help remind us all.

This is bound to help with the endurance ECORS racing too. Cant hurt!

Hey..I have an idea...
For those of us racing or attending the next ECORS race in March...lets see how we compare. Yes I mean doing pushups in the parking lot..lol Who's game?

HOLY COW am I out of shape!!!! I did my test tonight and I felt like Bill Murray in Stripes. My bones actually creaked and I'm not even 40!

I'm not even going to say how few I could do, suffice it to say that if I make it to 100 it will be roughly 10 times how many I could do tonight!

Man, I just started my third week, after 2 weeks trying wk3-col.3, I dropped down to wk2, col.3. The final set was tough, finished right at the max...but Mondays are the easy ones. I hope I can do Wed. and Fri., maybe I should have dropped to week one.

Boom chugga lugga lugga lugga, boom chugga lugga lugga lugga, boom chugga lugga lugga lugga, boom

On the 100pushups website, there is a pushup logger page, I didnt really check it out much. I'm not in for any competition, at this point I'm only competing with myself...and I think I'm getting beat :handed:

I started this program yesterday (M-W-F) but since I am out of shape and old, I started week 1, column 3. I did 10,12,7,7,10 and am sore today. My repaired rotator cuff doesn't like me right now (at all).

I also decided to tackle the 200 sit-up and 200 squat challenge at the same time and will be doing those on T-TH-S. I started with week 1, column 2 (bad back has limited my stomach exercise to non-existant the past several years) for the sit-up challenge and barely did 9,9,6,6,8 this morning. For the squats, I will be starting with week 1, column 3 (13,16,9,9,13).

ttt
wed. night push ups.....followed by wed. night sit ups anyone?

Just finished both!

I am feeling the pain...for sure.

pushups 10,12,8,8,maxed 20

sit ups 15,18,15,15,maxed 20

anybody else do their workout?
I had the wife and daughter remind me...looks like they love to see me in pain..lol they made sure I did the workout before bed.
Dang, talk about some peer pressure!!

I did yesterdays pushups. I thoguht it would be real hard since my armpit area was sore from Mondays but i did them all (column 3) and did my max at 18 after them all. Best thing is, they seemed to have stretche the muscles since today my arms and armpit area feel great with no pain.
