I politely argued against abortion today on FB with a friend who is politically opposite of me but a super nice guy.... Then some twat randomly jumped in and wished my, currently 3 year old, daughter raped and impregnated.

He deleted it, but not before I screenshot it and his friends list. Everyone's getting a similar msg as this.

Facebook has always been a breeding ground for ignorance and arrogance. Nothing on there surprises me.
Just be weary of who you make famous. There's people that will never understand right and wrong, no matter how much you do.

But he looks like a rich kid living off mom and daddy.

I had a guy threaten me on the internet, back and forth for a while he finally said come and find him and he would do all the things he was threatening. Next post i posted had his address and told him I’d be there in an hour. He blocked me and deleted all his stuff real quick. It’s all fun and games until it gets real.

In those instances i offer travel money and my address...only ever had one guy accept the offer. I’m a nice guy, so I let him ice up with some cold beer. He’s still in a few of my groups and we chat/laugh about it from time to time. One thing forums still have over the book of faces is anonymity for keyboard warriors.

To have the balls to follow through, he wasn’t all that tiny either. Both sides got a couple licks in, squared away the beef and made amends over alcohol...like God intended.

This is me. Do you think you're somehow going to change someone's opinion over a Facebook/BB argument? I think not. This is why I feel most of these topics are a waste of time to talk about. For example, I was cruising Gen CC on Pirate and noticed that every time there's a shooting someone starts a thread and everyone basically regurgitates what they said last time while peppering in the newest quotes from the politicians they hate. It's just a big, never-ending circle of wasted time. Rarely have I ever seen someone change paths on a topic. Especially, something as big as abortion.

It’s not just abortion, politics or shootings...just tell someone ol grandpappy was wrong and provide the facts why...see what happens. But that can happen at a campfire, at work or anywhere a disagreement may arise. People don’t like being wrong or called out on their bull shit, regardless of platform.

Unfortunately there are always people who feel their balls swell when they are behind a keyboard on facebook, a forum like this one, or any other social media platform. Back before the internet we called them telephone tough guys and I almost wonder if back before phones if there were letter writing warriors. Always easier for some people to talk shit when they are out of arms reach from knuckle sammich.

Thats F'd up man. Its all fun and games til you bring my family into it. I had a guy post up my address and a google pic of my house. I replied with a pic of me on the porch with a AR15 and "say when". He shut up pretty quick.

Had another say Im a registered sex offender. I told her to post a link to my name and address listed on the registry. She posted a "Joey Jones" (for those that dont know, my name is Joel) that lives in the next town over, and claimed I was using an alias and fake address. I just turned that one over to the cops.

Had another guy show up at my office running his mouth because I called him out for letting a dude (wanna be chick, got caught taking a leak in the bushes with his pecker out at a PDGA tourney and is barred perm.) play the womens division in his DG tournament. He proceeded to harass me, threaten me, and say Im a shitty Christian before showing up at my office. The boss just asked him why he was letting a dude looks like a lady play the womens div lol. Turned all the messeges over to the charity he was running the event for. They dropped him like a hot tater! Turns out the dude looks like a lady is his S/O.

FB is a crazy place. Ive been in FB jail more times than I can count. Just came off one for saying abortion is murder. Apparently its hate speech.

Id personally either handle it in person, or turn it over to LE. Thats nothing to play with there. If you need a hand, Im game.
 
I'm not much for making folks famous for being dipshits online. Because the internet and FB is full of them and we all say stupid stuff from time to time in the heat of the moment...

But this is someone I've had zero interaction with. He simply appeared out of nowhere, looked at my FB profile and saw pictures of my daughter, then made such a vile, disgusting, evil comment as that...

Well.

Pretty much all I can do is make his future family/friend gatherings awkward as fuck. That will suffice.
 
As for arguing on FB, yeah, it's pretty much a massive waste of time. But occasionally, I like going out there into the badlands of the internet and letting people know that they are wrong and why.

Will it change their mind? Highly doubt it.

But could it potentially put a bug in their ear that will eventually have a positive effect on their way of thinking? Hope so. Lately I've tried to be more polite and respectful because I used to be pretty outspoken and confrontational. But I've found that polite discussion works better, folks are less resistant to polite truth than vicious belittling truth.
