I decided I'd throw together a little impromptu build thread of what I had going on with the new YJ so far. I picked this jeep up back in August, and have had a great time with it since. I've gotten to wheel at DPG with it, and have wheeled it on other private trails numerous times. I'm very pleased with how its coming along so far.
The day I bought it - HP30 (non-CAD), D44, geared 4.56, locked with Lock-rites, roughly a ~6" SUA spring lift, and 36" IROKs on 20" Rockstars:
The tires rubbed pretty bad in the rear, so I trimmed it out a bit, as well as take the center caps out of the rockstars:
The jeep had a stock transfer case, so I picked this one up from SPOA87YJ... it's a Rubicon Express SYE 32 spline output, with a Carolina Drivelines driveshaft:
Fast forward a bit, after having wheeled it at DPG with no issues, it got a new set of marshmallows at all four corners:
Decided that I wanted to keep the HP30 in the front because it was already geared 4.56 and had a Detroit, so I went ahead and ordered some 4340 chromoly Nitro shafts with the 760x u-joint, courtesy of ECGS:
The jeep didn't come with a rear bumper, so I went ahead and decided to TIG myself one:
On the jeep:
Need to do something about the belly pan, it seems to be good at finding rocks:
As it sits now:
It's come a long ways since I bought it, including finishing out the exhaust and making a new lexan rear hatch for the hardtop, although it still has a ways to go. Look for several more updates in December - should be some good things happening.
