So my wife's sister's boy (11?) Is in a medical induced coma for a esophagus/tachae swelled shut.. no Burns to mouth/tongue.. he's got two older sisters, no way in hell did he consent to it, who would? If you got a small child ask if they would drink something that's very hot.. I think that's common sense. (I've found years prior that it should be really uncommon sense but whatever). I'm betting his sisters and whatever friend was over forced it on him because he wouldn't leave them alone or he was being annoying. Not that that justifies it any sense. "Supposedly" 911 op hung up on them when they called and said he was coughing up blood. I call bull shit. I know this is a public forum and why I am posting this here, for record as well. Wife's sister also threatened calling action by saying "people that live in glass houses should not throw stones" she never liked me at all so ***** her. Btdt, weathered the storm and she hasn't been around us here in 6 plus years, so no worries about any flak. Other attempts on my character were after that and I have paperwork.. but aside...
Me and wife conjecture the sisters and friend pinned down and funneled the crap in his throat, when he come up coughing blood, they freaked, call friends dad and he brings poor kid to er until family shows up and beats feet..911 operators do not think a call is a joke or hang up.. at least that's what I believe they're not supposed to do. Both wife and I think felony assault as adult charges are in order as well as neglect (in raising said kids)

My 6yo girl comes up to me at the shop "Daddy, I won't do ANY challenges ever, and no one is going to do any to me" as did my 7yo boy (his was similar but not quite so moving).. sad that my 6 & 7 yo would never imagine doing anything like that but someone kids twice their age think it'd be...... IDK, acceptable? Fun? Payback?

Well I guess they can go back to eating their tide pods.. maybe natural selection won't fall quite yet.

Damn thats rough, my daughter is 11. I am going to talk to her about this and these "challenges" again. Prayers sent!

I'm guessing you were typing in the heat of the moment, but I've read it a couple times and am still not clear on what happened or what you think happened. Does this involve Tide pods? Or hot water? Or both? Regardless, sounds like a crap situation and hopefully a life lesson is learned for all, and most importantly he makes a full recovery.

Condensed version..

The boy was probably held down by the two sisters and their friend and had hot liquid funneled down his throat. He came up coughing blood, supposedly they called 911, got hung up on, and then called friends dad to bring boy to hospital. Friends dad left when boys mom got to hospital.

911 operators aren't supposed to hang up on people even if they think it's a joke, right?

That and the sisters were always mean & rotten to the brother any time I was around them and the mother never ever disciplined any of them for anything. I mean really, what kid would say yes come on pour boiling water whatever down my throat with a funnel? I think most kids learn by age 5 hot things burn and don't touch it let alone ingest it. (That was the tide pod reference, dumb things people do that they know they really should not do but they do it against knowing better.)

You don’t know the OP’s pain, only post what he wants to hear.
No, post any thing you think. I'm not going to get agitated over any of it. I think it takes a special kind of ..... Evil? To literally pin someone down and force them to do anything for whatever reason. Particularly when it could possibly kill them.. we will really know what happened if and when he gets let out of the coma and is aware..

Those girls are a special kind of stupid and mean. If I was the boy, I would press charges and have all of them sent to jail.

At this point, it's speculation fro you that they held him down, right?

Based on your post am I reading between the lines right that they have suggested it was a challenge he willingly did?

What is the girls version of the story?

How about some compassion folks, there’s an 11yo in a coma. You don’t know the OP’s pain, only post what he wants to hear. Hope the kid pulls through alright.
I tried to have a mix of both, sorry about your feathers.

No oral burns just esphogus? Would be very difficult to achieve that without a funnel....

Coughed up blood? This part doesn't make since. It should have been cauterized "drinking" water hot enough...?

Y'all are correct 911 operator should send a police unit unless they made contact with someone they felt was an adult and stated 911 was not needed.

The hospital should have been in contact with DSS for injuries of this severity and modality.

How is the "Dad" who took the kid to the hospital realated to said kid again?

Yes it's said by the girls he willingly drank through straw. I believe other wise because no oral Burns. The girls said he we coughing up blood. I agree it may have cauterized but hard to say. Also they're in Massachusetts. location is irrelevant..

Father was of the girls friend.
Boy is the girls' (plural) brother. Friend was over at house with no adults and the two girls and brother. That help clear up why I think what I do?

That's different because they had option and were using it for attention.. versus likely forcing it on someone.. Different situations. He never said he didn't have compassion for no one.. Just not those people using suicide as a attention grab with no intentions of doing it. Hypothetically, since you don't really know if they are actually considering it. Yes my engrish grammar is terrible (Ctrl+h "you" tab "one")

Wait...weren't you the one in the suicide thread basically saying "shit or get off the pot"

Cough cough...

I was just ball busting. Was operating in accordance with the last time someone thought I wasn’t sensitive enough.

Don’t mind me...just being an asshole again. Hence the second sentence in what you quoted being strewn with sarcasm.

If someone were held down and funneled hot water I believe they would have scald marks around their face. Natural reflex would be to jerk/cough/spit. Only one person could attempt to hold them down because the other person needs to hold the funnel while pouring hot water and not spill any in the process.

I think your theory doesn't hold water (no pun intended)

Well, my wife said they let him wake up today.. we will hear what happened I'm sure when he can communicate..

Yeah, probably right about external burns, but something still doesn't feel right to me..

My first thought too...like they made him and/or he drank some sort of household chemical(s).

2nd degree burns down inside of esophagus. Tube came out about 5pm today. He is expected to recover fully in a few weeks time. No word on exactly what happened yet. Wife thinks, the water might not have been heated in a pan but maybe in a mug, that would explain no facial/body burns...
