Well I have been wanting to get a boat and enjoy the lakes around here with the family but I did not want to spend to much money in case I dont like it.

So found a boat for $100 on CL with a title and brought it home, then found another boat on CL for $50 with a good motor.. kept motor and all steering stuff then took boat to land fill (it was BAD).

I then found a trailer for sale threw here and went and picked it up, primed, painted, added new wood and carpet runners and some new tires..

Then I cut the rotted floor out and made a new floor and last night we fiberglass the edges of wood and then added a second layer of thick fiber on top of that and then sealed all the wood..

next is to paint inside walls of boat and then lay carpet and put seats in it.. if all goes well aiming for Sept to test it out..

You need to paint flames on that thing!! Seriously!

Only thing about covering wood with glass is that the wood can't breathe and will rot alot faster then not having glass over it. I've seen it more then once. Good looking start to loving the water once ur on it ur hooked for life

I thought about it, but this boat has a drain hole in rear for under floor if water gets in it and the very front has an open area for air also.. so I think I will be good.. plus if I actually enjoy the water I will probably sell boat and get a nice newer one..

how the hell do you have time for all these projects?

Keeps him in the garage, which keeps him out of mommas hair, which in turns keeps them happily married??? (just joking.... Ken includes his son in about everything from what I have seen... here's to you!!)

Corbin was not happy that I would not let him play/help with the fiberglass.

Looks good Ken, my father restored a 1968 Glassmaster awhile back along the same lines as what you have done, turned out very well and has held up very well

We have a similar formula for our marriage too.
If you need any marine grade plywood (which isn't too easy to find in Raleigh IIRC), Let me know. I can arrange it for you. ;)
