TJ NV3550 to AW4 swap

Back issues you say? Would a better seat and harness solve this issue?

Not sure if a manual or auto trans will make a difference when you are bouncing your jeep off of rocks. Even when I had an auto I was still using both of my feet :flipoff2:

He has good seats and harnesses.

Right. I guess my point is as technical as wheeling and rock crawling can be I don’t see how subtracting one pedal from the process will help get away from body fatigue. Everyone is beat after trail riding.

A driveline swap sounds like a lot of work to only be left with the same problem....not trying to be a dick

There are differences in working the gas and brake pedal vs the clutch, gas, and brake. After A long day Wheelin I’d venture to say an auto trans vs a manual would be easier on anyone. I’ve never wheeled an auto but I’ve wheeled the heck out of all my manual rigs and have had clutch leg on multiple accounts.

My suggestion is to do the 42 swap. Swapping the AW4 is going to be a ton of extra work IMO.
42RLE trannies get a bad rap when they aren't kept cool and used in Jeeps with too high gearing. That's when they fail.
Install a good aftermarket converter, add a dedicated remote cooler and rock out.
I've into many of them over the years but never after one had been upgraded.

After wheeling and auto I'd rather have a manual. I miss the rush of getting to obstacle and letting out of the clutch.

This is a problem then...

You can do a AW4 swap in an 02 and down TJ.
The 03 and up the flex plates changed and while you can bolt up the AW4 you can not get the CPS to work off the flex plate as they changed in 03.

You're option would be to either externally mount a CPS to the harmonic balancer on front of the motor, (Hesco makes a kit)
Or
Go with the 42RLE, being an 03+ I would recommend the 42RLE.

You and Chris could just swap drive trains...

Just take it over to Keziah's and swap your shit into his, his into yours. Problem solved.

The easy solution here is swap Jeeps ;)

I've had an XJ with aw4 and the LJ with 42RLE. I could never recommend someone swapping TO a 42rle...
