Warning western part of state now and heading east. Everybody got everything tied down? This could get interesting...

Here is the latest NCEM Hazardous Weather Update: Confidence is increasing in the threat for a high-impact severe weather threat today across central and eastern North Carolina. Thunderstorms will develop ahead of a cold front and will have the potential to become stronger than normal for the impacted areas. The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of central and eastern North Carolina, including Raleigh and Greenville, under a significant severe risk this afternoon and evening.

The main concerns with today’s weather include damaging winds in excess of 70 mph, large hail of 1” or greater, and a few strong tornadoes (EF 1-3 damage). The threat for severe weather will increase dramatically by midday. Thunderstorms will approach the Highway 1 corridor by mid-afternoon and the I-95 corridor by early evening. The threat for tornadoes will be the greatest in areas from the Triangle to the north and east.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of western North Caroline due to rounds of heavy rain throughout the day. An additional 1-2” of rainfall is possible by Wednesday afternoon. A Wind Advisory is also in effect for much of the state due to the potential for sustained winds of 20-25 mph with higher gusts. Strong winds of this speed can knock down trees and large limbs and may result in sporadic power outages.

As cold air filters in behind the front Wednesday night into Thursday, snow showers are possible across the Tennessee border counties with light accumulations possible.

Go home weather, you're drunk. Keeping an eye on it here at RDU in the tower. Looks like most the bad stuff is heading south and east of Raleigh. Small line heading through Charlotte now.

Co-worker and I are driving back from Pittsburgh today. We gone through some crazy rain and wind. Driving a Chevy Sonic and it's getting pushed all over the road.

Sun is shining in Marion, NC

Starting to get a little nasty in Kvegas

The second wave squall line just made it's way through WS heading to Greensboro.

Greenville is in crosshairs of first line with t-warnings.

trying to fly home from NY and flights keep getting cancelled or delayed.. keeping fingers crossed I can get home tonight

As far south as Columbia SC is getting swept around.

70° and sun shining, now, east of Capital Blvd in Raleigh. Hope everyone is doing OK.

3pm, sun was shining, now we've evacuated to a bunker, funnel cloud supposed spotted 6 mi away

The radars lit up like a Christmas tree.i. looking at 4 twisters on the map now.

Heard about Oxford. We had thunder, rain, and some hail around 5:30. I told the kids we might go hang out in my closet, but I ended up finishing making lasagna, anyway.

Started out this morning wearing a long sleeve t, covered by a hoody, covered by a rain jacket.

Ended up shedding all that and cut the sleeves off the long sleeve t.

The homowner we were working for walked outside, the wind grabbed her door and smashed it into the porch. We were nice and swept up all the glass. Scared the crap out of us, first I thought we had left the for open, but when I heard that 70 year old lady cussing like a sailor " oh shit..shit shit shit" I knew we were in the clear.. That door exploded with a bang. Freaked us all out. Hard to explain how fast that door was jerked out of her hand. Quite a force, that gust was.

Had 2 lines come through the area, 1 around 12:15, & another around 2:30. First it would be Sunny, then get dark, & Wham! But 10-15minutes, Sun back out. High wind continued at least til 6. I haven't been back out.

All the NC4x4 folks alright? Seen Carolina was getting hit earlier today prayin for yall!

No sign of any twisters here in Mt. Pleasant, but some serious straight line winds. Just hope these trees stay up after about 3" of rain the last few days.

Seems to be minor damages out our way, possible twister through the city of Seven Springs a couple miles down the road from us.. Spent a few hours hunkered down in the tub with the little one as it all passed over us. It got crazy for a hot minute! No reports yet that I have heard of anything major though.. couple schools on delay due to damage/power issues.. I heard it slammed southeastern VA pretty hard once it left our area. Hope everyone is ok!!

Ararat, VA got hit too. The girlfriend's parents live close to there and she was on the phone with her mom when everything went out. We were nervous for a bit until we got confirmation it was just her power that shit the bed and killed the cordless phone.
