this is all i have till times get better to buy a trailer,,
do u guys think that i have to remove the drive shaft to tow from raleigh to ure??/ i've towed it like this before ,,but i just dont want it to damage my trans case:confused:

my suggestion is the 3 minutes it takes to take the shaft out; is Yes do it to be on the safe side..

I know of one guy that was flat towing and his jeep engaged and bam he detoyed tranny, transfer case, shafts etc..

I tow my jeep on a tow dolly, If I am going more than 5-10miles I pull the drive shaft. 4 bolts on the axle end and then bungy cord it up to the body. Takes about 10minutes max and nothing to worry about.

I live on the edge and leave it in, hasnt bit me yet <knock on wood>.

I flat tow my Jeep, plenty of Greensboro-URE trips and once to Tellico.

For those that flat tow or tow dolly, can I ask why?

My whole reason for towing was always being able to get home if I destroy my rig. Obviously if you destroy it you arent going to tag it along.

Is it simply a comfort for the ride issue, or someting else I am missing?

No doubt a trailer would be ideal, but...
1) tow bar is cheap.
2) tow bar is easy to store when not in use
3) I'm a slacker, content with status quo (its what I got)

I still have to make sure my junk rolls to get it home, but you nailed it with the comfort factor (tunes and climate control) for the back/forht trip.
