What Matt said... I bought rough milled white oak from a local mill for about 1/3 of the cost if I had gone through Lowe's. Then stained it with some trailer deck stain.

Here's how mine turned out with all the details:

Redoing the gooseneck this month. Decks off, boxes, fuel tank and harness comes off tomorrow. Winch and lights next, then off for blasting and paint.

Have a local lumber mill that will custom cut oak deck boards for me. Was going to oil them with used diesel oil and ATF. Plan is to lay them out and coat them 2-3 times a side and edges too. Let them dry a week and then put them on. Sound about right? Anything I'm missing? Anyone done this and regretted it? Does it stink forever, get slick when wet, leave stains on everything, or???

Goose is mostly just used to haul jeeps for...

I did the same process with my previous trailer when I replaced the deck. This new trailer will eventually get a new deck (came with pressure treated pine). I’m just hitting the tops with used ATF. When I do replace (maybe next year), white oak coated on all sides with the used ATF prior to installation.
 
Go with sawmill White oak for longevity. Most all pressure treated will be MCA treatment and the base lumber will be similar. Unless you go with a #1 prime dense KDAT
