I would like everyones input here. I'm about to by a whole set and am having a hard time making a decision. We all know Carlisle's are:poop:so don't bother mentioning those. I would also like to know if anyone here has ran radial E-rated tires and what their experience has been with them. Thanks.

What are you running?
How are they?
How much were they?

What: I'm running E-Radials (Trailer tires) on 2 - 6k axles
How: I love the extra safety margin, also larger diameter = less RPMs
Cost: Don't know. I spec'd my trailer with them..

I think it has a lot to do about you driving and keeping the air up.
I have been running them for years on my boat and no problems also years on a few other trailers with no problems.
Got several friends with them on there haulers and no problems. Maybe people need to look at the way they drive and take care of the tire as to how it will hold up. And yes any tire could have a bad batch.......Maybe some have got them and I have not.
That is what I run on a lot of mine and got more then 100,000 miles with no blow outs.....
As for more info to help on a new trailer # 5
What are you running? Goodyear 16" R trailer
How are they? Good so far
How much were they? Got one tire with rim for spare with deal for 100$

A lot of the trailer dealers will sell you a tire and rim for less then a tire at a tire dealer the same tire is 125$ at a dealer.

Got Maxxis and Napco's on mine now...Both holding up better and have more miles than the Carlilse that came with the trailer. Don't remember what they cost.

i have maxxis on mine..never had any problems with em

i run maxxis i can get them for you through a distributer for $46 a piece unless they went up or down, let me know if you want an exact price.

Im running a 10 y/o set of Carlisle bias ply's... 1 blew out on the way to WindRocks a few years back and was replaced with a Carlisle radial...

I'd like to add a complete set of radials and use the existing radial for a spare... bound to help mileage.

If I get you the size, can you check pricing?

No problems on my Towmasters so far. They are a C rated trailer tire 205-15. When these wear down a bit I'll step up to a D 225-15 in either Towmaster or Maxxis. I hear good things about the Goodyear Marathons too.

I speak from experience with the Carlisle tires. I bought 2 trailers with them on it and messed up and bought a set once before that.

Which Maxxis tires are you all running, bias/radial? From my understanding the radials better for higher speeds?

i'm pretty sure i can beat that price and youll be dealing locally which is always good, no shipping charge if you come pick them up at my shop. and like i said i think i was paying about $46 a piece unless they went up you paid $75 a tire if my math is correct. ill have to check the exact model # ect. to make sure we are all on the same page. ill post an exact price tommorrow for anyone interested.

thanks

Okay well I still can't give an exact price b/c I changed locations and they will only sell to you based on certain qualifications, so there sending a sales guy out tommorrow to check out my new facilitty. However I did some research on past purchases and percentages and it looks like.
This is the maxxxis 8008 Radial trailer tire.

10ply, Load E's (2830lbs), Radials 225/75/R15- $75

8ply, load range D (2540lbs), Radials 225/75/R15- $62.50

6ply, Load range C (1820lbs), Radials 225/75/R15- $52.50

I have the load C's on mine hence mine were so cheap, but i also have a 7k trailer, and they are above the limit of the trailer. In my opinion there is no reason to buy a tire that is rated over what your axles can handle anyway.

yes/no - With the price being negligible, at that price I would recomend anyone to by the Load Es.

Most people with a 7k trailer are at or near the rated capacity. ~2k trailer + 4k-5k rig. While this means your within the rated specs, it also doesn't give much extra margin. (yes some weight is on the tongue)

Now factor in:
* High heat we see in the summer equates to hot road temps that can allow extra heat to build up in a tire.
* Possible lack of maintenance and/or normal air loss through the rubber, causing a few PSI drop.
* Guaranteed overloading of one tire the moment the other tandem blows out.
* curbing
* rough off pavement use

just my .02

BTW: Those are great prices, even if they rise some due to inflation etc..

straight off maxxis website, yager your probably right but i have had great luck with my c's and i am cheap, i may get D's next time.

Ken.. get the 225's in a D.. cheap insurance. My 225 LR D's run a good 15° cooler than the 205's they replaced.
