Truck Night in America

I still Fail to understand how so many make it to the Show, then Fail, right on the starting line. Or drop a driveshaft in the first 50'. If they make it through the First event, they get Stupid, & Destroy the truck! :shaking:

Ehh...just like taking the homecoming queen on prom night. You work so hard to get her in that position and blow your load in the first 5 min

Way too much excitement and not enough self control

I'm sure people show up w/ rigs that are not properly tested or pre-run through the paces.
Hell we saw it happen at every ECORS race...

I think what Troy said carries a lot of weight, just blowing your load too soon. But I think there’s a lot of ‘never exposed to this’ going on too. Yeah John Doe’s truck might win the county mud race and be the only one that can get through that big mud hole on Farmer Johnson’s property...but have no idea how to hit jump or logs or whatever.

But that brings me to my question...if the vision for this show is to evolve like TTC where 20 years ago 35’s and tons were where it was at...and last time I looked, Rockwell’s and 54’s were basically the standard. But I kinda dig that these are average Joe builds.

Quoted fo' troof! That's what keeps my interest piqued. I mean, I do dig ogling the no-budget million dollar rigs (okay, couple hundred thousands, but who's counting anyway when it's someone else's money?), but I like seeing what the every day dude can get by with.

 Now I've NEVER done that...that I'll admit.

Just now noticed you changed the vehicle descriptions in your sig line. Definitely gave me the chuckles. :huggy:

Came here to say nearly the same thing.

I'll say it again, I think friday's was the best show they've done. I liked saturdays show as well. LOVE the backstories of hard working 'Mericans and what they'll do with the winnings. Really loved the hardware owner and farmers backstory. When I hear "help a friend with medical bills" (man I even hate admitting this) I don't feel as compelled to root for that guy (yeah I'm a monster) but when I see some good ole boy working for himself, and $10k would make a HUGE difference....I'm like "that's my guy"
And if he's driving my all time favorite truck ('78/'79 long bed ford) I can't NOT root for him! Loved the hardware store guys truck...(but I think it was a short bed) I mean it was awesome. But that 64 was purpose built to kill that course. Shame they both bailed on the boards. They must have fixed that for Saturdays show...not a single waver on those

Like I said above...both of them are great dudes and stand up guys.

And yes...Ol Blue is all fixed up. And I thought the same thing, those boards last night didn’t seem to have more than a few degrees of shift to them.

I still have regular contact with Rob and Abe from the show. Still can't talk about things too much ahead of time though. They said this whole season will have a lot more of the driver's backstories. They recorded all of that with us on Season 1, they just didn't air any of it. While the show will evolve, the plan right now is to keep it in the realm of trucks and 4x4's the average person could build or own. They are trying to stay away from TTC style buggies.

The "hardship" stories this season are a bit much...

Maybe I should have said my dog needs braces or something.

Haha - yeah when I got the phone call from the casting girl, she was really needling me for a good story for why I should be on and what i would do with the money. I tried being honest about wanting have fun running the course, and taking care of some bills and doing something nice for my family. I had to call back when I could come up with something better. The interview with the douche canoe casting guy was even worse. It was much less about the rig and more about the drama, and I guess I just don't have enough of it to be on the show. But if someone has a buddy hurt in a crash or wants to give it to veterans or keep the small town hardware store open, good on them, and if they are honest, I hope they win and follow through.

This.

It could really jump the shark if they go off the deep end with the sob stories. I hope there's at least ONE guy that says something like "I'll spend it all on hookers and blow" just to balance it out a bit....on a totally unrelated note: did @palmetto zuk audition?

Honestly, my answer to what would I do.woth the $10k was to build a shop at my house so I'd be around my family more.
Should have thrown in something about Jasper's digestive issues and Callie's propensity for eating horse poop.

I did however tell them my trucks name was BTL.

Did I miss something or did they just do 2 Ford only episodes and nothing else since?

The Ford episodes were specials. They filmed season 2 at the same time but it won't Aire until spring.

Ah! OK, thanks.

They did chevy and dodge episodes, but none finished :flipoff2:

I keed I keed.....Wondered the same thing myself

Iirc, no Ford finished the first episode of Ford truck night. I may be biased but the tan color 72ish Chevy/gmc and the blue 72ish on V treads were some tuff trucks.

Show still sucks. And the hosts... OMFG the hosts...
