Simple...We will have packets on site, come raceweekend, they will be available at the table at the starting line. Just walk up and get it, during tech inspection, or sooner.I will also make sure Sean has a Sharpie to sign your melon!

Hey, what are the regs/preferences (or are there any) for where/how the number plates are to be mounted? Front? side? Rear? Roof, lol

well ain't this some shit about group camp...

What did I miss?

Whats the deal with group camp? What did I miss?

Well it appears that I made a mistake. I was told by the Forest Service that I had Group camp reserved. I found out today that I do not. So there is no Race Camp at this point. sorry for the disappointment. On the bright side, only a few people actually signed up with us to stay there. There is Plenty of camping and RV spots left available at the URE Stables so if you need a spot please go get one. All the vendors are staying at URE stables so really, there is no loss here. I'm just bummed by the let down. Sorry guys.

As per the email I got.

That really does suck.
In addition to the inconvenience this poses to those who would have camped there, this also severs the lines of communication with all of those who are camping in one of the other UNF Campgrounds.

Is there any chance that the Message & Information Board that was to exist at Group Camp could be moved over Arrowhead now, seeing as how there are so many racing teams staying there?

Cheers!
Smiley

Yeah that does blow, but the question is:
This has been going on now for 5 months, everybody and their brothers knew about it.........so who in the hell was able to reserve group camp from up and under american wheeler........
Even the FS knew the event revolved around group camp,it's been talked about for 5 months
and the reason the email pissed me and some others off,was the way it came down 5 days before the event.......
and sounded so oh it's ok,no big deal just come down and pay the stables people more money
On the bright side, only a few people actually signed up with us to stay there.
I thought most of the racers and support crews where staying there since it was free and convenient to the trails.
This is from the volunteer page:

(tow rigs,tents,rv's,haulers,...there is over 90 racers signed up so far+ a few vendors) I now support this decision. However this now leaves me with no place to offer the vols., to camp. I regret to say that vols. are on their own, as far as camping goes. As i have no contingency plan for vols. I know,...that sucks, and I may be ripped apart by several of you, but I have no way to change things now. Hopefully a free festival pass and t-shirt is enough pay for the vols. this year. Next year will be different.

That seems to be more "than just a few":shaking:
I dunno, but we do need a information spot at Arrowhead now, otherwise 95% of that campground will have to drive all the way,yes all the way to the stables.......on those dusty ass bumpy roads it is a long way just for information.
And once again, who was able to reserve group camp from under American wheeler????????

Turtle,
I'm pretty sure that when Sean said,

On the bright side, only a few people actually signed up with us to stay there.

What he meant was that few people were signed up to stay at the stables site, not Group Camp... and hence there is plenty of space available there.
Now I'm *hoping* they wil lat least let racers stay at the Stables site for free rathert han having to pay the fee.

But I'm with you. Very, very annoying - and yes, my biggest concern is with centralizing the information. Where is that board going to be?

*thank God* Mark and I decided to go ahead and get a spot at Arrowhead...

All camping areas must be reserved through recreation.gov

If they didn't do this, then they didn't get it. It doesn't matter what the rangers or campers know.

I already have site B reserved for the Poker Run that is happening July 5th. But I've been around long enough to know that you can't wait to reserve and that it must be through the above site.:shaking:

Well, the stables was already going to have a board so who knows since there will be some of us at Badin Lake Campground also (only a few spots left). I grabbed it since it's predicted there will be tons of people. I wanted to get away from some of the noise.

Sean, just emailed me, we the racers will have to pay for an RV spot($25), plus $5 a head to park @ the stables, so much for parking and camping being provided for the racers, the cost of entering this thing just keeps goin up:bounce:

Update, Sean just emailed me, there is a new racers camp somewhere by the Stables, no charge for racers, thanks for steppin up Sean

Jackie here from URE Stables.
Hey guys, sorry about not getting Group camp. We have a spot (free of charge) for racers, but the size is limited. Once it is full, it is full and others will have to pay for a spot in the public designated camping sites.

Guys..this may not mean a darn thing to you, but, after the news about group camp...I hardly slept any last night. Sean and I racked our brains on the phone, and I told him this was a disaster. Sean had mentioned(a while back) that if you were staying at Group camp...sign up so we would know, only a few actually did this. All along I have been communicating( on this forum) that race camp was free and at group camp. This was pulled out from under us, just Friday..... The fault lies with us(AW) AS WE THOUGHT..We had group camp reserved as per talking with Debora.(Ranger) We were wrong and we apoligize for the inconvenience....HOWEVER...As stated above..we have a new plan. Free racers camping behind the festival grounds. Just take the driveway that is directly accross from the end of Mullinex rd. We will have a sign pointing the way.

I know some of you are pissed about this, and this looks less than pro, but things come up sometimes, and it is how you handle the disasters that makes you pro. Although there will be some inconveniences...the disaster has been averted! (sp)

Good to see this fix:beer:
Now we need an info board at arrowhead, surely this can be arranged.........mmmmmmm.....wonder what janet's doing?
J/K
She'll have her hands full talking to us winners:flipoff2:

Cool.. thanks Sean & Dylan for scrambling to get this resolved!

Sorry, but there are no shower facilities available at the Stables.
Another spot for people to camp in the forest is just past Canebrake Horse Camp on the left at the bottom of the hill. It is a first come, first serve "overflow" camp usually used by Equestrians, but it is open to anyone. There is usually no one in it except on weekends, so if you get here early enough...you can fit A LOT of people.
If you need more info about it or things here, just send me a PM or email me at johnny@uwharriestables.com

are you serious there are no shower facilities at the stables? where are we suppose to bathe? what did I pay $16.00 for? I was at least expecting a place to chit, shower & shave at....

I understand your frustration and I too would be upset. I wish I could offer everyone better accommodations, but the best I can do is give you a free place to pitch a tent/camper. We are just not designed or set up like a "group camp" and our intentions is not to piss people off. We are only trying to step up and offer a free place to stay so people at least don't have to stress out about where they will be sleeping
