UORTC - Uwharrie Off Road Training Center
Long time Montgomery County resident and Uwharrie National Forest volunteer, Scott Fields, will be embarking on a new business venture slated to began operations in July, 2011.
Scott will be opening the Uwharrie Off Road Training Center in Eldorado, NC. The training facility offices will be located adjacent to the parking lot on the south end of The Outpost. The school will feature office space, classrooms and a 27 acre off road training site complete with obstacle course.
Scott has over 25 years of experience in the 4wd community. He is a long time Carolina Trail Blazers 4wd Club member, a charter member of the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association, past OHV trails volunteer coordinator for the Forest Service in Uwharrie National Forest, has trained our military servicemen in off road skills in preparation for deployment, has worked for other off road driving schools and is an owner and operator of numerous 4wd vehicles from ATVs to full size 4x4 trucks.
UORTC will offer training for ATV, UTV, motorcycle and full size off highway vehicles in safety, environmental sustainability and driving skills. Subjects covered will include off road driving techniques, off road extraction and recovery, expedient trail repairs for vehicles, safety and tread lightly principles, vehicle mechanics and operation and more.
Scott is an accredited trainer with the International 4-Wheel Drive Trainer’s Association (http://www.i4wdta.org) and ATV Safety Institute (http://www.atvsafety.org/).
