Uwharrie shenanigans

Uh....was there anything besides bodies keeping the log from rolling backwards into the log behind said bodies if the zuk was to run away down the hill and into log #1? ...Or are we looking at possible Darwin awards?

There is a tree or two between the logs, Best we could figure the samurai broke his studs at the second ledge and it was easier to limp it back down to the trail head than continue up daniel

I broke all my lug studs one day at uwharrie, I learned the hard way to re-torque all of your lug nuts before each ride. I was lucky I had a friend with me, and he was able to get to an auto parts store and get me three lug studs and we installed them on the trail.

I sheared all of lug studs off while in Moab,, 20 miles from nowhere. I remove three studs from the other wheel to get me off the trail and back to town. Bought 6 extras and never needed them again.

From another video i saw of it, someone said that he does work with Greg Slade at 4wheel parts Raleigh.

where is the other video?

This is my rig, learned my lesson on studs lost a couple at the beginning of the weekend, don't even know how, snapped all the lugs off coming down the top part of Daniel, we tried to keep the wheel just on there as much as we could until we had to make that sharp turn like half way down, best we could do in a bad cituation, can't really find a good place to work on it on the trail without being scared of being under it while working, sorry to all the guys that think I tore up the trail, but I am also part of the select few that will come up and fix the trails in the off season.

While we appreciate your efforts of fixing trails. You still set a bad example for the younger and inexperienced wheeling crowd. However I think you can see that now. Hind sight is always 20/20..

This is not being a smart a$$ at all, I am an inexperienced wheeler and I am not always prepared for certain problems while on the trail. So in case this were to happen again and no one was able to provide lug studs, what would have been the best way to get it out and how was the trail damaged by this method?

How did he set a bad example? By going back down the trail in a generally controlled fashion? Sure it was dramatic (bold/italics added for dramatic effect!) but really wasn't that noteworthy. A guy on a 250 2 stroke dirtbike gouges out more dirt in a day at Uwharrie I bet.

I think most on here are referring to what looked like you attempting to go up the ledge with three wheels. I have seen people strap a log to an axle. Also FWIW ask around. Most of us carry spare stuff and are quite reasonable about helping others. That being said there are also those that will try and gouge you. I have also seen vehicles strapped to other vehicles to get them out. Just my .02

Looked to me like he was trying to climb the ledge with three wheels. playing around,
thus the rotor digging it out more.

In my mind, first getting of the trail to let the waiting crwd go by if possible. If not the carefully backing down. and clearing the trail at first opportunity. Then getting a game plan to get the rig home.

Like I said if our actions offended anyone we really do apologize, Prior to going down the ledges, the group of people taking the videos were stuck broken on the trail and we assited them, they were all in good spirits watching us come down and really didnt seem to have a problem with us doing so, we got the sammi down the hill and the 2 wranglers right off the the left side of the trail and let everyone in there group drive around us. Everyone was very nice about it and we didnt really have any controversy on the trail. Its the wheeling community like you said, weve all got each others backs, and those axles arnt stock sammi axles and no one had extra stub or anything, plus the wheel was pretty beat up so couldnt really put it back on, spare was back at camp where the mudholes were, to much traffic on the trails to go grab it. first time we went without it to. Karma right haha

Have any of you ever tried to steer with only 1 front tire?

1.
Looks like he was repositioning the rig because it couldn't make the sharp turn after the new, whimpy 1st ledge.

2.
Ever tried to see which way your tire was turned by looking at your front diver tire? Well this guy couldn't, hence him having to move the rig forward and backward a few times to make the corner.

3.
Ramming the rocks on the 1st ledge is an accurate description, but remember, it didn't have ANY brakes. So how was he to stop?

4. Tearing up a dusty, dry, rocky trail covered in burned rubber where idiots with open/open rigs or horrible spotters have already left more damage than any single broken rig? *facepalm...

Never put it past grown men on the internet to act like high school drama queens...
