Uwharrie Spring Run April 30 - May 2, 2010

So the last list of people i saw was 25 people is everyone still planning on it/I would like to go to the Farm to see it and ride but I already planned for this,Im going to try to take a leave day from work on thrusday and friday but we will see if i can get it approved.
Thats just 25-30 from this site!! We've got another 10 or 15 that will probable show from another website and 5-6 from another!!

well we need to be figuring out foe sure where were all going to camp!this many people we might need to camp at a campground that is if we do want to camp together, just throwing it out there.

All trails are doable, even in stock rigs, with good spotters and listening to what they say and doing it. I did Daniel last weekend wit no problems. The rut before the first ledge has a bypass but is easy enough to get by without using it especially if you stay right. The first ledge was done easily by everyone in our group, a couple had to have some rocks stacked but they got up. Second ledge is effectively gone thanks to the FS, it will be back as the season wears on. Here is a pic of the rut. I have vids of the first ledge but I haven't gotten them up loaded yet.

Wade, some of us are camping on the trail, some in campgrounds, and others at a organized local location.Which is your preference?
Since this is your first time to UNF,I'll offer an invitation to join us in camping and trail riding.Depending on what your rig's specks are,we can lead you and advise you on the fun stuff.
Our little group is on the more streetable/stocker end of the rig scale but I can assure you "we ain't skeered".

I would be grateful if I could join up with you......If my Jeep gets done. I'll know more by Sunday. This will be my first time offroading (and driving) my 76 CJ7. 4" lift and 33" MT/R Kevlar, but stock narrow tracks w/o lockers. I would like to take it pretty easy on my Jeep since I don't know how it will act. I will have plenty of food, firewood, and even a grill. Do I need anything special for the trails? I have not had a chance to get a jack yet and am going to mount a fire ext this week. Thanks!

just make sure you have your tow points established, a first aid kit, and a strap if you can.I drive a stock 50 Willys and carry plenty of tools that will work on your cj7. Any spare parts would be good also.

Not to be the URE nazi, but the forest service would prefer that the bypass on the rut not be used. They have plans to guardrail it off, but did not have the material to do so at the last work day. So just inform anyone you see to kindly not use the bypass. Before long the bypass will look like the rut and I believe that's what they are trying to avoid. Especially with the tree that's there.

Yes, the first ledge is currently the only ledge. I actually had to stop completely on what was the second ledge to wait for our group to move on and had no issues continuing on. It's just been torn down so far that it is basically just a rough section of the trail. The tree after the switch back offers more challenge than where the second ledge was.
I do thing the second ledge will return by the end of the season and the first ledge will become much more difficult.

Jeep is done except for some adjusting and a leaking brake line. I am still good to go. My brother-in-law will be joining me too. We will RSVP for 2 plates of those ribs! We will be heading down Friday.

$7 a night per tent (no person minimum) and we'll have use of a pavillion, bon fire area, shower(cold), toilet...
