I spent last weekend at ure and was very disappointed to see that someone had marked many trees with "Zuke". The camp beside mine even had it carved into the tree. These are the same people who cry when there is nowhere to wheel. If you are responsible for this, you should be shot.

Dayum, that sucks. No way to fix it if it is carved in a tree.
Somebody should email Ian on Extreme with a pic because he went wheeling with those guys or guys that own them. If it wasnt them then they better do something to better their name now.

are the markings on any particular trail?

I ran Daniel and Sawmill and saw the tags.

Not sure which trail it was, but on one of those for sure.

I bet it was a suzuki owner. We should just banish them all to california.

hey now...i hope to one day be the proud parent of a little baby 4x4. let's not do anything hasty!

you guys are jumping to conclusions. how do we know this isnt the infamous zuccini bandit?

jokes aside. when did this tagging crap become popular with white people? and...somehow, the few black people that do wheel...i dont think are into that kinda crap.

I thought I posted this before I will post it again .

To lump someone in with us because they wrote Zuk in the woods is an insult to what we do .

This year we funded the majority of the additional funds needed for the new Art Lilley Campground, adopted a trail and we run a who can pick up the most trash contest at the fall and spring event . This contest fills the dumpster at each event and it also teaches good stewardship to the new wheelers who come out .

In addition to that we have a liason that schedules trail cleanups and trail maintenance through Deborah Walker throughout the season .

We do as much as we can to keep the public lands open to us all no matter the user type . If anyone wants to discuss this farther feel free to pm me here or on ZuWharrie .

I was informed of this thread by the above moderator on our board. I will make a post on our board to see if anyone knows the person or persons responsible. If we get a name it will go directly to the forest servive and they will be held responsible.

Thank you

not a cool statement:shaking::shaking:

Ian and the majority of people that come to a 'zuk event or any other organized event know that we are all there to wheel and to keep it open for wheeling.
As has already been stated be a couple folks, regardless of what it was that was tagged, it will be followed up on and dealt with the best way possible.
There's no need to start a battle within us all......

Is there any vandalism that can be cleaned up. Couple of us are heading out there after the playground on Sat and would be willing to help clean up anything. Let's be part of the solution rather than making this a pooh flinging contest.

I will go with you if I can get a seat .Trail rig is broke. I can contact the forest service to see what is the best way to remove this without damaging the trees any futher.

I'll be at the playground until 3 or 4. Your welcome to meet up with me. I've got a 3 seater so it would be no problem.

I will follow you to the outpost I will call Janet tommorrow and the her what is going on. She will contact Debroah . Hey mods can we lock this thread

Please let me or snappy know what trails need to be addressed. I will let Janet Becker and Deborah Walker know what is going on in the AM.

Just called Janet . She will let us know of the best way to fix the spray painted trees. You can't do much for a carved tree other than fine the hell out the A hole who did it.

so what time you gonna be here to help Jeff. You need to get away from the wife" don't let her see this". A weekend a muddevil antics, bark scraping, and beer drinking. Hell I might bring the tas'mal hall to the campground for voulnteers if asked. 18000 btu of heat on a cold winter night in a campground.

+1
Every club or group has bad seeds.. and we need to think about that person as an individual and not as a representative of the group. There is already opposition from non 4x4 enthusiasts and we shouldn't :poop: on our own! Especially a group which gives great support to URE.

Jeff, if you want to come down for the DPG run, you've got a place to stay with me. Burgers or ribs, your choice. I'm heading down there first thing in the AM. Unfortunately, I can't go to the cleanup, but it looks like y'all won't be short on help.

As a Zuker, and one that was there Friday, I'm as pissed about this as any of the rest of you are. When somebody tags the name of a specific club or organization, it's easier to sling blame. When they're throwing up brand tags, though, that casts a wide net! In my experience, the Sammi crowd is typically the most laid-back, come-as-you-are group out there. Very little competition or false bravado among them. Of course, the Sammi is getting more popular lately, and with that comes new elements of people. We can't control everybody who wheels a Zuke. What if they had painted "Yota" or "Chevy" or "Jeep" on the trees? Same difference.

Fact is, we all need to work together to keep the trails open. In spite of the rise in popularity of the sport of wheeling, Uwharrie trails have been the cleanest this year that I've ever seen them, potentially due to the new "Trail Adoption" program. Are we going to let a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us? NO! Hopefully, they will be dealt with individually. More than likely, though, we'll never find out who they were. If we do, though, I guarantee you they will not be welcome to wheel with me until they've redeemed themselves. People in my groups don't do that kind of crap when I'm around.

I would not even start to blame all suzuki people, especially since most are not smart enough to open a can of paint:fuck-you:!!

All joking aside, I'm sure it was one drunk that owned a zuk and decided to be cool, not a rep of any group or brand owner. Hell, someone may have just wanted to give another group a bad name.

In the end, it still looks bad, and it is great to see a multitude of people want to fix the mistake of one.
