Vaping

So today I went out to my local tobacco shop and bought my first vaping device going on the advice I got from a few ppl at work and a few friends that started recently. So far I've been using mine for about half the day and it seems to do an "ok" job at curbing my smoking habit as I haven't had a cig since before I started vaping but I do find myself using it more than I would smoke actual cigarettes. Anyone else have the same experience when first starting? Im using 18mg of nic juice which is as high as they had at Tarheel tobacco in King, or at least from what I saw on the shelf but I know that 24mg is available as well. Would going to 24mg keep me from using it as much or is the difference of smoking and vaping just something I'll get use to and slow down when that happens? Just for a little background I smoked about a pack of light menthol cigs per day on average. There are many reasons as to why I would go to vaping as most smokers and vapers know but my main reason was because of the smell and the way smoking made feel after doing it for so long, like the way my clothes smelled and how I would feel crappy after a long day of doing anything where I was free to chain smoke and would frequently get headaches after said chain smoking. So far the vapors haven't affected me in anyway the same as smoking. But other than the awkwardness of switching over does anyone have any juices that you would recommend trying and is there anything I should look into as far as mods go that you like or have had good luck with?

ok, here we go. i was a smoker for 30 years, and when i say a smoker, i mean it. i was smoking 3 packs a day.anyone that knows me can attest to the fact that if i was breathing, there was most likely a cigarette hanging out of my mouth.
about 3 months ago i decided to try and e-cig,and the day after i bought it, i was down to half a pack a day.that continued for a few days and then i was smoking about 5 cigarettes a day. i continued this until the carton i bought was gone. it has now been 7 weeks since i have had a cigarette.( i wasn't going to post about this until i hit the 8 week mark)

as far as the e-cig goes, who cares how many times you puff on it a day. unlike a cigarette, you probably pick it up and puff it 3-4 times and set it back down. with a cigarette you are committed to that 5-6 minutes of constant puffing. with an e-cig you are basically trying to get the nicotine in your system just enough to trick your brain into thinking you are still smoking. once the "habit" of the cigarette is gone the nicotine part is easier. my hardest cigarettes were the one you smoked out of habit (when you first wake up, after meals and getting into the car) once i got past those, the rest weren't so hard.
the nicotine level is easy, start high, then decrease as you feel the need. i started with 24 and didn't like it(headaches) went down to 16, and that seemed fine, now some of my juices are 0.4%(a 24 is 2.4%, 16 is 1.6% ect) i think the biggest trick is finding a flavor you like. my first trip i bought some different flavors and also got a "tobacco" flavor just in case.(still have never even opened the tobacco)
as far as what e-cig you are using, that is another topic all together, but chances are those little cig-look alike things will not cut it for very long. i have found that the better the equipment you are using the better your juices taste which makes quitting a lot easier. the flavor choices are numerous it's unbelieveable. i would hit as many vape stores as possible and try everything and you will find one that suits you just fine.
if you have any questions i can try to help you out, as i'm no expert but i know where your coming from. (just wait until you notice the smell of a cigarette, i can smell it when someone has smoked one and they walk in the shop...............and it's nasty)

I'm all for better health and I wish the best of luck to both of you but I will add this in just because I'm an asshole... please don't "vape" indoors. Treat it like you would a regular cigarette. I don't give a hoot whether it's water vapor or whatever (glycol). I don't want that shit wafting around my food, my desk or whatever else. That's what kills me about these things. Now because people think that's it's not as harmful as second hand smoke they can pull it out wherever and start toking away. Like I said I'm an asshole but I do hope it helps you kick the habit.

Two things:
1. Saying the word "vaping" makes you a faggot
2. find some "shatter"

I tried it once and don't really like the whole vaping thing. I started smoking at 15 and did it heavily until recently. I tried patches too and for anyone who does any physical labor, they are not going to stay stuck all day. The most effective substitute I've found for smoking is the 4 mg lozenges. You can buy 108 lozenges (pills) for $30 and they'll last a whole month starting out. As you progress, you can use as little as two a day all the way down to nothing. The only time I get the urge to smoke is when I have my morning coffee, and I'll smoke a black and mild. The vape thing may work for some but for me, it was just another expensive habit and when you run out of juice, you'll abruptly be running up to the gas station to buy a pack of cigs.

i hope your joking, because i say it, and i don't know of a man big enough to call me a faggot to my face.
i don't know what "shatter" is, except for the bones in someones face when they call me a faggot

Man I just laughed so hard..

I will add that most, not all, but most people "vaping" are douche bags. I was talking to a customer once over coffee and he puffed one of those things and blew it right in my face as I was talking. He was also wearing a flat bill with the sticker on it so....

I would use that as a method to stop smoking and eventually stop altogether in the near future. They haven't been out long enough to know the long term effects.

I don't care how biga boy you are if you say "vape" you sound like a hipster douchebag. And I was mostly joking. Shatter is the pot concentrate all the cool kids are smoking in their "vapes" out in public.

Congrats and good luck on elimating your smoking habits. Regardless of what method you choose, you're poisoning your body and taking years off. Society probably will not know what the negative effects of e-cigarettes are for many years. I too would ask that you treat them as a normal cigarette by not smoking indoors, near children, etc.

Just to be honest with you, I only encounter college level kids or flat capped retards smoking those things around town. I think that is why it comes with the name calling. I'm not sure if I'm man enough to call you a faggot face to face but I certainly would extend you the courtesy of being a human whether face to face or on the interweb. Good luck on kicking the habit...you only get one life...unless you are buddhist :)

Careful smoking those ecigs can lead to a neck beard and skinny jeans, its a scientific fact!

People with those devices are funny to me. Cause it looks like they are trying to suck start a transistor radio. Replacing one bad habit with another not so bad habit is a good start. Quitting smoking isn't all that easy to do but it can be done.

Dabs? Never heard it called shatter. I must have just become old.

*Note to self: don't call Mister Crawford a faggot*

I certainly would not call Lee a fag lol vaping is great to help you quit smoking I have to many freinds hoping there stuff up making it be able to take huge hits with massive amounts of nicotine I just wonder what the long turn affect of that are in. If used for there intended purpose I think there a great tool.

Congrats on taking the first step Joe, Lee and everyone else.

I smoked for 17 years and quit in a little over three months using the e-cigs. The are a great crutch for those cravings. I don't care what anyone says, the health benefits far out weigh the risk of vaping. Keep up the good fight. I get around smokers today and I can smell it in their clothes, cars and houses and it's such a turn off. Makes me realize how big of a tard I was when I was around friends that never smoked.

For added motivation try this quit-it app.

It's great until someone figures out that heating nicotine causes X issue or Y disease ten years down the line. Smoking was once looked at as being safe. Like I said, great that you cut back but hope you quit in the long run.

BTW, what the fuck is up with all this stupid ass slang that changes every 5 minutes? I'm sorry but back in my day the term "Rad" stuck around for 10 years and "I got your back" is still in use to this day. Maybe it is because the stupid fucktards that have been popped out within the last 25 years are on such a high speed lifestyle they have to continuously change to be cool? The term "vaping" and "shatter" just sound like some gay shit a flat capped dbag came up with. I think "I smoke an e-cig" really gets the job done without having to come up with new trendy terminology. Aggetates me the same way "bling" does.

Maybe, but from a technical standpoint, w/ tobacco you're also heating up nicotine exactly the same, it just comes w/ a whole bunch of other nasty shit.

Cigarettes are basically just a hot nicotine delivery system. E-cigs are just a more efficient version.

Does anyone see the word "vaping" and immediately want to call the people who do it "vapists"? Or is that just me?

well lets call it what it is -a vaporizer.
So maybe the users should be called "vaporizerers".

But if you want to be cool, learn how to dismantle and fix yours, so people can call you a vaporizer technician. Then it sounds like you work on death ray guns.

Everything you do , that someone else don't like or don't understand, is called a bad habit or made fun of . simple fact of life ,haters hate it either comes from unwillingness to change, or there unwillingness understand other people like other things . some say it comes from small penis.
vapeing (ecigs) have been out for a long time now , as to date not one ill-effect has been identify , Not saying there is none just saying none have came up. I am down to a %5 nicotine in mine and will try for a 0%

Vapist...that is funny!

Seriously? You think because it is a habit people don't understand you think I'm a hater? I'm a little confused on that one. I personally do not think of myself as a knitting champion but I'm pretty sure that it has zero side effects compared to smoking an e-cig both of which I understand zero about. I personally drink beer, understand the issues, accept them for what they are, and respect people that choose not to based on health risks or control issues. I'm really not calling them a hater because I drink a beer. I simply made the statement that no health risks have been identified yet and compared it to how it was similar to when people started smoking regular tobacco cigarettes. Comes from the same mindset of seeing some fat ass walk down an aisle at WalMart carrying two cases of Coke Zero. Yep, it's the calories doing it and not the synthetic ingredients giving you diabetes. Last time I checked, it wasn't my small penis coming up with that thought process...

You would think differently if ten years down the road they identified something in an e-cig that causes Lupus. Nothing is outside the realm in the medical industry anymore especially with what people believe is acceptable to put into their bodies.

I did the whole vaping thing for a little bit. I never smoked, but I was always one who wanted to smoke socially Especially when I was drinking), So I picked up a starter kit and then moved on to building my own RBA, Mods, Sub - Ohm, etc....then I figured out that I was spending crazy amounts of money on liquids and parts and haven't "vaped" in probably 3-4 months. Don't really plan on going back anyways.... started thinking about whats really in those juices...I know that most are VG or PG or a mix of both...but just don't know about the flavoring...
