very cool trailer/traxx idea

Great idea

wired remote joysticks that you take into the cab

So it sounds like the truck is simply the powerplant and fuel supply, and everything else is hydraulic.

I'm sure the steering is like most tread-steers, just turn motors on one track faster than the other, or even put one in reverse while other is forward.

Great idea, but I dont really get the video - all it's showing is how well you can get through muck using long treads instead of tires.
Well, duh, we knew that...
- what they really need to show off is how it hooks up, steering controlled, different types of vehicles using it, etc.

GAWD! I love America!
I would build it so you could use your forward gears. A lot of trannys dont live long when worked that hard in reverse. All in all it's freakin' cool!

Yeah, that's bad ass... but it needs its own gearbox. There's gotta be an easy way to use the power from the drive wheels to get full control of both tracks, including running one forward and one reverse. Could always use the tires to drive a hydraulic pump... not like it's lightweight to begin with. Then you'd just have a control box that you could put through the window into the truck cab.

cheesy but better info here:
