Virginia ends CCW reciprocity

Visitors to Virginia can still obtain a non-resident permit if they meet a separate set of standards set forth in the law

Libertarian White Anglo-Saxon Protestant males aware of what "shall not be infrindged" means need not apply

In a given year, I spend a few thousand in Virginia travelling. No more, until they fix this. I'll vote with my wallet, as best as I can.

Too bad for Virginia residents with a ccw...they will lose 25 states when it's all over. We've been looking at SW Viginia for a future move. Not now.

I don't see why they wouldn't honor NC permit holders. You have to go through more in NC to get a cc permit than you do VA. hell you can take the CC class online in VA.

SC is not reciprocal with GA. A common option is to also get a Utah permit, which covers GA. The article states Utah reciprocity will remain with VA, so that would be an option for NC residents that travel to VA.

Not a matter of difficulty getting the permit, as much as your past

25 of those states had concealed handgun permit regulations that were weaker than Virginia’s

VA doesn't allow anyone with any DUI, abuse, or assault priors to have a CCW

I spend most weekends in VA just outside Mt. Airy and spend a good amount of time up in Nelson County. This is a wonderful legislative pain in the ass now thanks to their Attorney General and Governor. Once again, more legislation that does nothing more than disarm the honest person.

Options, open carry or jump through the hoops to get a non-resident permit...or just give 0 fucks. If its concealed then nobody is the wiser. :flipoff:

That's all and good until you're targeted by the popo because of your tag and information (see Maryland trooper targeting out of state CCW holders)

Yeah, I know that story about the guy from FL as well as others. Between that and some experiences with young fresh out of BLET hot heads, I place it on my console or somewhere in plain sight when I am in my vehicle. I can also get to it faster than if it was holstered.

Yes, because the proper way to commit civil disobedience is by committing a felony which would result in your right to possess a firearm, instead of paying $100 on the internet for a permit.

I never said it was the right thing to do. And yes, the non-resident permits are very easy to obtain in VA all things considered.

$100 for the license and possibly another $60-100 for a VA recognized certification (should they turn down whatever one you got in NC) is a very easy process to stay legal. Just bureaucratic bs and more of a hassle than anything else.

The only difference I see between NC and VA is that NC doesn't restrict you if you are the subject of a Protective or Restraining order... Which seems a minor difference to me, but it's enough that Herring can get away with saying "It's less restrictive"...

Pisses me off more because I just lost the ability to CC in 25 states 3 of which I spend a lot of time in, At least it's just this stupid state for you guys...

More money. I will keep my money in NC and the other states that recognize my permit. This world is getting too dangerous to not be armed.

I read on CSC that they were actually planning for 50 state reciprocity like NC has soon and that this was temporary.
I know the governor is a liberal twat but it makes no sense to cut off other states.

I saw a great sticker on a friends truck today that said,

Don't like guns?
Don't buy one

I laughed

We should still be a able to open carry in va, right? Maybe we should do much more of that. I am thinking big conspicuous dirty Harry side arms to mess with the bleeding heart liberal fucks. Leave ur glock laying on the dash for all to see or resurrection of the back window gun racks seems in order. :flipoff:
