The only thing missing is the rest of the windows!! I always wanted a 21 window but they are crazy priced. I can't wait to see what you do to this thing.....

Gonna paint flowers & peace signs on it? Grow your hair long?:)

Those are so cool.

this will be a long term project..

lots of parts to gather before i even start the work..

only plan right now is to strip it down and see how much metal needs to be replaced..

but plan is to drop it on air bags and slam it.. then drive the heck out of it and have fun

Hell yeah! These are def on my list of things I want to build someday.

What year is it? What kinda plans for the engine?

It needs to be 4x4 so you can take the family to places like Core Banks, Ocracoke, etc. while still keeping all the VW charm. Did they make a 4x4 version?

killer find. I have a sqaureback that we made look like a panel wagon hid out my dads. the only thing that was wrong with it when I parked it was the alt.:shaking: havent looked at it in years

They didn't make a 4wd until the 80s, with the water-cooled Syncro version. However, a little lift and some big tires in the rear, and that one will have no problems with the sand. Nice find, Ken! I'm jealous as hell. I'd have paid twice that for it.

i had a 78 kombi camper
brown/white and everything worked -
picked it up for 1800 and needed a little compression work on the engine.
sold it to a guy in KY for the same price. (divorce is a bitch)
month later he had it running.
damn I miss that thing.
Oh an mine looked way better than yours.

 waiting.... wanna see yours done.

I wish I had another one. I had a 56 23 window in high school with all the goodies, jail bars in the back windows and safari windows in the front. I miss that bus more than any car I have ever sold.

nice bus, I have a buddy who swaps water-cooled Subaru 2.5 liters (EJ25) into these. You would get around 165hp/160lb-ft. get to the beach quicker and not have to worry about heating issues as much.

I know there's a lot of love for these things, but after my experience of driving one I'd have to pass. I had to fix a fuel leak on a friends and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to get it into reverse. Thank goodness it was light and the parking lot at the parts store was flat!

That was a scary ride back to his house! First gear was difficult to find too, plus no power. I was afraid I would get run over. They do look cool though!

I used to be into vans big time! Any body a 2%er? Showed in the Van Jams and Truck-ins from Miami to Jersey.

few more pics after my son and i cleaned out the stuff inside it.
