Watch out for the Charlotte Meck Police

All I am saying is there is or should be a pretty obvious difference between the average law abiding citizens and a criminal king pin.

What I think does happen though is the LEOs deal with the worst ll day long, so even when they see "normal" cornerstone of society types they automatically associate their experience.

Of course not in all cases.

But much like the ambulance pull over thread, I expect a LEO to tell the difference pretty quickly between a a thug gangsta "ridin' dirty" and a hard working guy who just left a long day on the job heading home to his family.

The solution is simple if they pay more they will get a better pool of applicants. Not many people want to go get shot at and pull people over for 26K a year. Now you start paying 40-50K to start you get "more intelligent" people.

Most of the guys I know that went into L.E. were kids that had inferiority complexes and think badge+gun = respect/payback for getting made fun of as a kid.

Think about it, who wants a job were all you do is try to hide under a bridge and catch people for doing stupid sh*% like pulling 12000# when your tag was rated for 10,000#. Hats off to the guys that are cops and really care about puttin bad guys behind bars. But most of the ones I've met were dicks

I think that over the next 10 years stigmas are going to start changing. Many of the ideas of cops being hs bullies, or stupid country boys, etc are going out the window....most noticeably in the larger cities.

Also, youre pretty low when it comes to your guess of starting salaries. Not only that, but the thing that is attracting such a wide variety of new and intelligent, talented recruits to depts is not the base salary, but mostly the schedule, benefits, and retirement.

Its a shame that you havent come into contact with more cops who arent "dicks", but I have a feeling that youve probably done some stupid crap in your time and have a bit of a grudge. Just calling it like it usually is, if Im wrong feel free to give some specific examples.

It seems

sure how about when i first moved into my old car lot, been there a month, one day cops show up and ask to come in, sure I said, well the cop then lets in another man, who proceeds to disconnect all my security camera equipment annd pulls a cable wire out from the wall hooks it up and charges me with cable theft.

Turns out my landlords son was a crack head and lived in the apartments behind the lot, he had hooked up cable to the apartments which was on the same line as my lot. I did not even know the place had cable going to it.

I calmly explained to the officer that I had recently moved in and could not understand how they could disconnect my security equipment then reach into the wall pull out the cable wire, hook it up and accuse me of cable theft. Cop said he didn't want to hear it, wrote me a ticket. My lawyer got it dismissed and the judge laughed. I was out 1,000 bucks

Any by the way I have no record

If thats how it happened the cop sounds like a big time dickhead and probably deserves to have his knees broken for being a crooked sonovabitch....now how about all the other examples?

How old was the cop and what dept if you dont mind my asking?

winston salem pd was the department,

Major, how about the surry county thread on this forum?
Look I usually come down on the side of LEOs, but the truth is MOST of the ones I know (and I will estimate I know 35-40 police officers on a first name basis) are either on power trips, or have napoleon complexes.

I even have a good friend who brags about only giving speeding tickets to Fords, and keeps carbons of every one he gives to mustangs...a huge Camaro guy....on a small bulletin board in his garage. CMPD FWIW

There are some good cops, but for the most part they advance quickly enough the average public never runs into them. Its the jack asses that get stuck running traffic patrol for 20 years

I havent seen the Surry Co thread....Ill go check it out and report back. But from some things Ive heard about the way Surry Co's Sheriffs dept, jail, etc are run Im not surprised.

Sort of the same way Davidson Co was all crooked a few years back. And Im sure there are depts like that elsewhere, it wasnt an isolated incident. If you arent an honest and noble person to begin with, the feeling of having the power to arrest, give tickets, etc can and will go to your head and becoming a crooked cop isnt a far stretch from there.

And to be honest, those jackasses that dont advance usually get weeded out after a couple years. Most dont run radar for 20 years.

Plus in smaller more rural towns, youre more likely to run into the jackassery simply because of the boredom factor. Doesnt make it right, but in larger metropolitan depts theres enough actual work to do that you dont see much of that BS.

Just read the Surry Co thread and if the OPs story is truthful (which I have no reason to believe it isnt) and something like that had happened to me or someone I know, those morons would be gone. Of course this is assuming the command staff at their respective dept is worth a crap. If the superiors are crooked, its hard to get anything done, of course you CAN go above the dept. The state will look into things of this nature.

On the other hand, searching CAN be pretty invasive, and many people mistake a good search for something its not. It sounds like this one was above and beyond what it shouldve been though. As far as illegally searching the vehicle, you cant really get anyone in trouble for it, its just that anything found during the search would be likely thrown out in court.

yeah, thereabouts
do you know the name of the officer?

I believe I remember his last name, but I don't think posting it up on here is a good idea. Thats all I need is a bunch of cops pist off at me for slandering one of their buddies

So I assume you are a cop on wspd or KPD

And all people from lake wylie are silver spoon fed pretentious pricks....see how bad generalizations are

Im not from Lake Wylie, just live there. But you are prolly right.

Ever heard the expression "One bad apple spoils the bunch"? Well, after having a few bad apples (aka police) my generalization is more than just that, it has been confirmed that police are certified douches. There are a few exceptions (ones w/ educations) but for the most part I have yet to see a cop that understand reasoning or the fact that the law states innocent until proven guilty.
