When we purchased this place we where told by an unreliable source that the well was dry. I have turn the pump on once or twice and no go. The house is on city water now. Well bored and at home I did some digging. after seeing the tag I am at this point. The tag says static at 16 and casing is at 32 .I have water at the 16 foot mark so do I need a pump? I would love to use it to keep pond topped off when it is full.and also for watering garden in summer. I would also like a pitcher pump for when there is no power after I get the water tested. So what do I do now?

Could just have a spot where air is being pulled causing pump to lose its prime may get lucky and just have to re prime it!?

It is out of the ground . Thirty feet of 1 1/4 cast iron nothing a tree branch and a rope and truck could not handle. It appears that after 36 years the cast iron joints had let go at the pump head . Any thoughts on saving pump as it was still good or I replace it all ?

I'd just find a new pump and some poly line and call it a day. That shallow of a well doesn't need a strong pump. Maybe even get away with a shallow well pump.

poly would make it a hell of lot easier to pull next time! there is a 110v pump on amazon for $105 and I need 110 down by the pond anyway.
