what do yaul think

Real Answer!

If he is fabricating this project anyway..... I believe it will be easier to find WAY more parts for the JEEP..... I mean hell look at the spare parts alone on this forum..... Tons for the jeeps out there not so many for the other..... Just putting that out there

i dont think the landy center diff box will handle the tires needed for rockwells.

i did not know that this was a forum on spelling. or a question of any ones fab skills. i hope that you dont think that i am so stupid that i think i can put rocks on stock land rover supinsion. give me a little more credit than that. any one that puts rocks under somthing needs to have some sort of fab skills.

dont take it so serious, we're just having some fun with ya.

Must.....resist...Ricky Bobby joke...

Anyway, my vote..do the rover. you won't have to stretch the ever-loving shit out of it to get a decent wheelbase, and it's just plain different...and that's kinda cool.

Rovers are sick when there's not much Rover left to them. Do it to it.

lol...that's the truth.

the downside is, no matter how much rover you take out of the rover, everyone still sees you as a "rover owner"

Yeah. There's someone local who has I guess an early '90's Rover (not a D90 or Disco) on what seems to be tons, and everytime I see it being trailered through town the sheetmetal is more and more crinkled. Probably not a typical Rover owner either.

Skip them both and build a tube chassis...why waste your time with sheet metal you'll just distroy and end up building a buggy anyway?

what i am trying to do is make a crawler but i would rater do a jeep for body reasons and i think a rover will be top heavy. the only bad thing with the jeep is the length. and having to streatch it. if i do the rover i was going to exo cage it. the jeep i wont have to.

I am trying to be helpful, really I am....
But it feels like you are either intentioanlly being obtuse or are just choosing to not give enough info to work with.
Why are these the only 2 choices (neither would be choice A of most....if you go Jeep why go to one of the shortest narrowest possible platforms?)
What are your plans?
Crawler means a lot of things to different folks.
Give us an idea of final WB, Tire Size, Engine Size/HP, Components etc...

Actually unless the rover is free or a D....then that wouldd not be my choice compared to anything, over priced, under powered, over complicated and unreliable

Neither. Buy an XJ.

Sky...i think he said he chose jeep or rover because he has access to one of each for free or near free, i cant remember how much he said earlier.

Rocks under a heep... he'd look like Ricky's mudder.

do it! :lol::lol:

on the other hand I'd like to see a rover with rocks coming around the corner on a trail.
lots of work either way

Something tells me his budget won't allow for that...

no money for a tube chassis. if i dicide to do the rover i would exo it because if you spend all the money in it and roll it then your done. bent pilliars are not fun to push back out. and i am sure with the rover being top heavy you will roll it a couple times. i plain on running close to a 46 millitary tire on the rocks.

Rovers arent top heavy, they just look it. Remember, the body shell is made of aluminum. Shouldnt be a problem with rockwells holding them down, thats a lot of unsprung weight.

What is the price difference between an exo and tube cage built on a bare frame?
