What have you done to your rig today?

got it muddy in Uwharrie yesterday. now I'll three link the front.
 
started welding the hitch, got the secondary muffler mocked up, made a decision on the third seat location, wired up my winch

Dug the headers for the 454 out; started cleaning them up, had to knock out the old flange bolts but with some gentle persuasion with a punch and hammer coupled with ample amounts of Kroil I managed to get them out without too much hassle.

Anyone got any recommendations for coating places? I got a quote from Jet-Hot, but $400 to get these done up hurts a little at the moment; buy once cry once maybe?

Have heard a lot of negative about them coating lately. I don’t have any recommendations but I have had fair luck with blasting some and putting about 500 coats of high temp paint on mine.

Only negatives I've seen about Jet-Hot has been the turn around time? I definitely don't want to spend a decent chunk of change and not be happy with the result
I really want something that'll help with underhood heat; Vortec 454s are hot natured, especially when you toss a set of headers in the mix; which is why I looked into Jet-Hot in the first place.

Bought this to coat my manifolds but it sat on the shelf so long it hardened up 🫠

Carolina Powder in Mooresville did the last set I had done.

Cerakote V Series, imho is the gold standard currently. And lots of color choices if that is your thing (including chevy orange).

They do mostly guns from what I gather and felt like I almost had to talk them into doing a set of long tube headers. But they did them and turned them around in like 3 days
 
Got everything back in and done. The fabbed repair on the pedal box looks solid.
Transmission is on the floor, and I was right in my diagnoses.
The grease on the bearing guide tube if the input shaft had turned to glue. I couple quick shots of Liquid Wrench and a quick scrub and it clean, ready for new grease and to go back in.
Throw out bearing looks fine ... spins good and smooth.
BUT....
I don't want to do this again!
Question is, are the Inmotion or M-PACT brands from Rock Auto good quality?

I pressure washed that damn Uwharrie clay off the jeep after work. that shit is sticky!
 
Note to self ....
Buy a truckload of Suzuki Samurai clutch release bearings and get filthy rich reselling them.
 
Rebuilt and shortened 3 of my 4 bump stops, finished the last one that I had parts for this morning. Waiting on a shaft that's backordered for the next 3-5 weeks. Probably will start tearing down the shocks this weekend and rebuild those, the rears have to have close to 100k on them.
