What is a VW bug worth?

What does it depend on? Vehicle runs and is in great shape. I don't know much about these vehicles.

Some questions would be. Hard top, soft top, retractable half top, stick shift or auto shift?

But pics would answer most questions

Also depends on whether it's a super or standard beetle. Supers are generally worth less. Like said pics would help a lot

It also depends on who you ask. If you ask a self proclaimed vw guy like my dad it would be worth much more than a regular person.

...and if you asked a guy like me, who bought one brand-new in 1973, it wouldn't be worth 50¢. It was the worst POS I have ever owned. I traded a Vega for it. I believe the Vega was the best of the two. Just an opinion.. nuthin' personal. :)

My grandfather bought a VW Bug back in the late 70s. Drove it home and drove it back to the dealer. He hated the thing. Traded it with the dealer for a VW Westfalia van, had it for YEARS. Lots of good memories as a kid in that thing. I want one just like it one day. White 72, thing was great.

I am not up on them myself, but I do know, I bought a 74, back in 81. Bone stock, paid $1800 for it, but it was in great shape.IN and out was a high 9. Had to replace the generator, the heat exchanges, and a set of tires, other than oil changes, that was it for near 3 years. Got a kick out of watching my Dad drive it though, he never did find reverse! Great in the snow(fun) with a set of mud tires. Not as good as you would think on fuel, but not terrible, mostly depends on how it's driven.
Now for the Vega, cut the two 1/4 plates of the motor mounts, slide a Buick V-6 in there along with a Turbo 350, or a Powerglide, and you had an instant Hotrod!
