What speed is fast to you?

I hope my kids never see this, but......
Waaay back in the early 90s ( I think ) when 311 first went to 4 lanes.
W-S to High Point in 5-6 min. on a Suzuki...don't know how fast...it was pegged and I was kinda busy.

150 er so in a friends Mustang...ridin' and drivin.

Top end race from The Station resturant (remember that?) to North Point....lights and all.

I usta ride around lookin' fer Porches, Ferraris, anything really to race.

Now my trail rig is also my DD.....Sometimes the speed limit ain't fun in a lifted zook....or obtainable

Matt- Usta be REAL stoopid! :(

i won't lie, i drive like a bat out of hell everywhere and probably don't deserve to have a license. i'm 25 and still haven't been able to shake those 16 yr. old driving habits. fastest i've been in a car is ~165, on a bike ~150.

Which is probably why no one offered to loan you thier trailer for a "quick trip" :flipoff2:

Sunday Driver??

On the Trails, I Usually Ride 90 or NUTHIN'....BALLS OUT Driving Style

That's just how I like it...No Rev Limiter on my Rig!!! :D

:driver:

Fastest I have ever driven was in my old sports car. Had speedo pegged at 140. Headed up highway 321 years ago. I was running the long straight section between Gastonia and Licolnton. That was before they had it finished all the way. It stopped and you had to get off at Licolnton.

haha... maybe i should clarify that's with MY stuff. i don't treat other people's things with the same disrespect as my own, lol.

oh, and i did get a couple of offers so:flipoff2:

The fastest I've ever driven was 110 - 115 in my '96 Dodge Ram. This was two or three days after I picked it up from the dealer. The truck started to wander back and forth on the road. Slowed down to around 65 and saw 8-10 deer coming toward the road. Scared me to death. Didn't hit anything but taught me a lesson. Never again that fast for me.
Daily driving, I try to keep it within 5 mph of the posted limit. Double that on the interstate.

must have been <112. that's where the speed limiter is.

Thread Resurrect

All of these are GPS definite numbers with the exception of the SL and the WJ:
The wrangler has been 102 on 35" BFG At's and 104 on 36" Iroks.

90 XJ has seen 117, but it took probably more than a mile to get from 110 to 117.

Dads F150 has been dead on 100 pulling a ~2500lb 7x12 enclosed trailer.

Mom's SL320 has seen the upper 130s on backroads around my house, never reamed it on the interstate or somewhere with a whole lot of space.

Mom's WJ has seen about 110 on the same backroads.

Suzuki RF900 has seen 157 and had more but the straightaway was running out.

Probably the fastest feeling ever was on my bicycle going 43mph downhill on the pipeline right of way behind my house.

This summer when the family was in Wyoming, I got our rented Grand Cherokee to about 107 on a 2 lane backroad.

But, the best feeling ever is riding the little Ninja 500 at the track.

As far as driving, I will run about 9 over in high risk areas(ive see cops around before) or places I haven't really been through before. Roads I know, I will run about 15 over regardless of vehicle. On the interstate, I will pace the fastest traffic. Sunday night, coming back to school, I went a little over 20 miles on I85 at speeds between 90-95 because the 7 cars about 1/4mile ahead of me were doing it. I don't necessarily advise this, but if you are a competent driver, I think it is a good thing.

Depends on what im driving, when I drive my truck i just kinda chill honestly if im tired ill drive like 5 under sometimes, then normally ill drive 5 over but dont feel comfortable goin any faster than that cause my truck is a cop magnet. fastest i got my truck when it had 32's was 105 and with the 35s and 4.88's was 94 and it honestly wouldn't go any faster. when im in the buick ill go fast just cause it makes me feel like im rally racing whenever i drive it since im used to my truck, in my dads mustang i hit 120 on the on ramp b4 i got on th interstate then slwoed back down and that made me feel very uncomfortable, it wasnt the speed that scared me just the fact that if ig ot pulled over id be soooo screwed.

Ive gone very fast, and I drive very fast, 'nuff said about that. But, in my truck its kinda funny cause my truck is sposed to be governed at 99 (chev. silv.) but thats according to the speedo, and with the tires i have now its about 25ish% off.

Just a tad faster than the guy in front is all I need to do. Ain't lost one yet.

People like you are why I slowed down. In my younger ( dumb ) days 120 - 140 in the Supra didnt feel fast at all , 90 in the CJ was too fast and any thing over 100 on a bike I got visions of my skin being ripped of by the road. Now I try to stay close to what the sign says. Its cheaper that way. I got no where to go and all day to get there.

Dude.. read his name, then think about what he's saying... Give ya a hint, it has do to with his job.. both the name and the statement.;)

140 in a '69 Vette, not driving, 110 driving.
100 on my bike ( hey, it's a Harley )

Average 5-9 miles over the limit until I bought Super Swampers.....
Now I lose fillings over 65..

I get what hes saying all too well. My fear of the hurting people like him have put on my wallet is why I slowed down.

Fastest i have ever gone was probably about 140 in a Saab twin turbo. took forever though. fastest in the XJ was on interstate with the flow of traffic, and it was an inch past pegged.... (pegged is 85...).. ha. normally 5-9 over. not in that much of a hurry. my dad had a 12 cyl Mercedes for a while and i have been in that going over 150 and it felt like 55.... that was a beautiful car. (on a private airport runway...my dad would not do over 5 on a normal street).

in highschool I had a 3000gt vr4 twin turbo, with a 75 shot of NOS. I would hit at least 190 on a daily basis in an area where I knew there were no cops. very fast. will make your cheeks go numb. (both sets):)

after I wrapped it around a telephone poll I got a 64 fastback with a 97 corvette motor. it was fast but not nearly as nice as the 3000gt

now I dont speed at all. had a lot of speeding tickets and dont want anymore

I'm afraid to go faster than 60'ish in my yota :flipoff2:

as a prof. driver I TRY to keep it less than 9mph over.

previously I was an idiot and rolled like 80mph everywhere.

been 156 in a my buddys caddy CTS-V and he wasn't there. he just to here about it.

ridden a bike once and got to 115 and that was fast enough in a bike.

i usually do atleast 80 on the highways or follow a group of cars and cruise anywere from 90 to 100 for miles on end.

tyler

:D Ever wonder how any of us lived long enuff to grow up and slow down??? :D
