or maybe I'll say fawk it and move to Belize. The Water is warm and so is the weather.
I think a lot of those 'Preppers' people are unhappy with their life, and are hoping for something bad to happen.
I have never killed my dinner (other than fish), and have ZERO Rambo skills. I would probably die if left out in the woods alone with my family. I'm in good shape though, so might be able to steal some food and out run the person, LOL.
Married with a three year old.
What I lack mostly is a group of local like minded people to combine resources with.
well, this is one thing I was hoping this thread would turn towards. You never know When/if any of this could happen. and with that in mind, there's several of you on this board that I've met that I WOULD qualify as like minded people to combine resources with.
I watch Alaska the last frontier and just think those people are really living life the way it was intended.

Just remember, that guy you are thinking of stealing the venison from... he Killed his dinner and may not be fond of the idea of you taking it away.
I think the likelihood of a true doomsday scenario where fuel for cars/trucks is not available, the power grid is shut down, etc is about 0.000000000000001%
I like what Chip wrote though. It is very likely that some of the members on this site will experience some kind of extreme personal hardship like he mentioned. Therefore it is more realistic and practical to prepare for something of that nature. Such as, I'd like to get a generator for our new house so we can live comfortably in case we lost power for several days or more in a bad storm. I'd also like to get a small 4x4 tractor in case we get a 100 yr snow storm, ice storm, or wind storm, and I can't get out of my driveway.
SHTF doesn't always mean total government or economic collapse. Look at what happened recently in the Philippines or in Japan. These people don't have crap nor the resources that we fortunately are able to obtain. Just having food and water for 7 days or a week could mean life or death. Having these items doesn't make a full on prepper but a person that is taking care of your family. I myself have started to gather necessities to care for my family. Medical supplies, food for a few months that we normally eat anyway and this spring starting a couple raised bed gardens. All of which we will use in normal life even if nothing happens.
Closest I want to come to a post-apocalyptic world is the mall at Christmas time.

As long as I have a good place to take a shit, I feel like everything will be ok.
