I am wanting info on where I can buy a donor truck for a project I have been toying with. It is my understanding that I need an licences to buy from an aution. can anyone give me some info.

I am looking to buy a Toyota Tundra with either the 4.7L or 5.7L or anything with either of those engines in it.

ok, Im new to this, so please understand. I really dont know what that means to me when you say " No license for Public Auctions=Citys/Power Co.s/Autos, ect". Are those the places I have to look to find a wrecked donor truck?

I
Have you bought from them before?

have been involved in buying cars from them with others..

the downfall is you have to pay to get a bidders number that is good for 12 months.. but if you plan to buy 1 or a few cars then worth it..

one of last years ECORS race XJ was bought from there.. and I know of many other trucks and cars bought from there..
there are downfalls as when you can actually walk the lot and see stuff when the bidding is etc and sometime only dealers can bid on certain cars

Thanks for the reply, What does it cost to get a bidders number? I only plan to buy one truck as a donor for a project I am thinking about.

The " no licence", is like the City of Oxford, is having an auction on surplus equipment & vehicles. Power Companies [ Duke/ Progress energy, ect.] Cities& Counties, & others that you may find in the newspapers, generally only require a bank letter of credit, or Cash. Most of these have a web site, & list the items, for auction. Many areas also hold weekly Auto auctions, as well, but doubt you'd find a wrecked auto there.
