okay so i'm 17 and in a pickle about what to do. right now i'm currently driving a 88 suburban and want to do some lifting. i talked with off road design and the quote was around $1100 for four inches. after that i suspectected another 1000 for tires and wheels. and in the near future swapping in a 700r4 instead of the th400. OR my dad pointed out that buying a jeep would be better for what i want to do. i knwo that jeeps are the common choice and after market parts are easier to find. and they will get a whole lot better gas. but i'm no mechanic or anything and swapping out axles and stuff like that are out of my ability. keeping in mind that my burb is already 3/4 ton and has hd axles. that is what i can't decide. ohh and the trail i would do are like URE and plan on camping in the mountains ect.....need advice and thoughts. thanks

Your 17? Funny your profile says you were born Jan. 27 1988

Forget the Burb. Buy a Jeep Cherokee.

The better deal is to not lie about your age and you could've gotten some good advice on the board. Don't try to sneak anything past the mods on here. Jeff owned you in a matter of 6 min.

I did my 7 inch on my burb for around $500. I would suggest something smaller for a trail rig. I run an 86 Burb but only because I have four kids and they like to go along. I would suggest a cherokee or even a fullsize blazer. If you really want to lift your burb PM me I can give you tips and should be able to save you a few bucks.

Yeah, you can lift a burb pretty cheap, but it is huge for a trail rig, plus if it's you dd that's another story, you can buy and yota with and swap already done, for that matter a decently built yota for pretty cheap price that will be a good rig. or build your on with rear's up front 63's in the rear a locker front and rear some regearing and there you go you would be ready for the trail and have in my opinion a better than average rig. Just my 2cents

Come on man, Jeff already busted him. This is a forum, its not like he's walking up to the liquor store with a fake ID. Just give the kid some advise.

It seems that a Jeep would better choice for you.

Funny thing is, people under 21 can't post in the tech section to ask for advice.

My only point was why lie???

IMO though I'd go with a Jeep if you want to go 33's or less. Bigger than that you'd most likley need to swap axles. A Toyota would be a good choice if you're wanting to go larger than 33's.

I doubt he can read this though since his IP was probably banned.

Shame too, I like hickfied better as a user name

Yes, I'm fairly partial to it myself.

Please note that Mr. Abee is of "legal age" for this board.

To limit the postings of an entire age range of legal adults due to the few that are immature and/or liability issues severely limits the growth of this board. Why not enforce strict etiquette rules instead, and allow everyone to be a member?

Your policy is not enforceable. You have seen it from the original poster, you have seen it from me, and you will continue to see it. And seriously, COPPA? Isn't that a privacy act for children under the age of 13?

actually they can. They just need to have a sponsor to do so :)
