Why Jiffy Lube is very bad

Sorry buddy, but some of this is true?
:shaking:

Where is the large heavy set guy that has no hair (not bald, I think he shaves it). I dont know about the quote but everything was brand new. PM SENT!

Richard, the assistant manager, kinda looks like uncle fester, still works there.

Everything I stated, including the qoute, is off of original invoices and conversations with the people you dealt with. I can easily scan and post copies if you need them.

PMd you my number, in case something is different. I urge you to get any copies of invoices you have that I did not outline.

Furthermore, I ask that you stick to the truth and not slander an honest business with your "some of this is true" statements. I am in the position to help you if anything transpired. Show me what you got.

I did not get the PM but am very willing....the part about some of this is true had to do with the other visits. with the jetta and such. I have a business and know that hearing bad things about it are not something you want. However, you have to understand that this was just not some story I thought of. I will leave it off the board but would like to contact you. I truely feel you did not get all the info on this....Thank you and I will not post anymore information on this issue. I will call you when the PM comes in.
EDIT: GOT IT! thanks

Had a long conversation with Greg. Everything has been cleared up. Some information he did not have and some information I did not have but everything has been spoken about and agreed on.

Thanks Greg

John

John is actually a pretty nice guy. He felt that we recomended tune up parts that the vehicle did not need. End of story!

Nobody was fired, no $300 tune up estimates were given, no other documentation stating free or discounted oil change was provided to me.

The one and only freebie came out of our store charging the incorrect price on one of his fuel services.

I run a reputable business and am part of the nations largest independently owned auto repair organization. I take great pride in my job.

John is a good guy, he was upset about what he thought transpired as I would be too.

 on me next time.

Meanwhile, back at Jiffy Lube...

I took the S10 pickup I used to have to the one at Northgate Mall in December a few years back for a Premier Service... "the works". Then I drove it as usual until the Big Blizzard hit. Everyone will remember that one. So it basically sat there for a good while until Durham finally got around to clearing the back streets a day or two before what was left melted anyhow.

Then I drove it as usual again, to and from work, a few errands once in a while. And then one evening about 5:30 PM (just before EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET CLOSES) I was heading down 70/Miami toward Raleigh and got as far as Lynn Rd. Suddenly the Check Oil light goes on, the gauge drops to ZERO and I had to shut it off. Now I'm at the left turn lane going uphill because I was going to pull into the lot of what used to be Don Christian whatever it was and see what was wrong.

Light changes, start up put in gear stomp it around corner into lot chugchug dead. I pushed it the rest of the way into the lot.

Then I tried to figure out where I could find a phone to call AAA, and if the pastor at Calvary Baptist Church across the road hadn't been there right then I'd have had to walk all the way home in the frigging dark.

So what happened? The imbecile never tightened down the drain plug, and it would've come out sooner if the truck hadn't sat for days on end.

Jiffy Lube wanted to try to repair the original engine, and my mechanic tried replacing almost everything from the crankshaft up. Couldn't make it work in THREE WEEKS of trying, so they finally let him put in a rebuilt instead. Meanwhile they rented a FS Dodge Ram pickup for my loaner. The guy I dealt with was all apologetic and made sure I knew that the employee responsible "no longer worked there" and all that happy crap.

Have I gone back to Jiffy Lube since then?

Nope.

What's funny to me is that I pretty much posted this on every BBS I'm on, Jeep, VW, even the local craig's list, and have heard a TON of bad stories, and maybe 1 or 2 folks saying JL is ok at best...

So what's necessary for a class action suit???
:flipoff2:

I have heard storys like this for years. A friend of mine works at WallMart between chapel hill and durham. She was telling me that the service center has had to repair so many cars there it does not even show a profit in that department. She said there have been a dozen cars that had body damage just pulling in and out of the service bays.

You gonna sue McDonalds for making people overweight too? I just sorta thought everyone knew when you went to JL/grease monkey/drive thru lube etc.. it was a crap shot.

The same people who are getting overweight from McD are the people going to JL, they are just waiting to cash in their lotto tickets.

I gotta say though, there is one "speedy lube" type place where I live, $42 to change the oil and filter in a PSD, using Rotella. I have never heard a complaint about them. They also check tranny fluid, washer fluid, brake fluid, even tcase fluid, tell you what is low or fill it up, and vacuum it out. All while you sit in it. I've never used them, cause I buy rotella in 55 gal barrels, but if I bought it by the gallon, it would be cheaper for me to go there, then to buy the stuff and do it myself.

NOt sure where you are buying your Rotella..

But I just bought 3 gallons for $24 and the filter for $5 total $30 with tax and It took me 5 mins to change it... for me I would rather save the $12 each time and know I did it right.. ( why trust one of your transportation to someone else)

It takes 4 gallons (14 quarts) for a PSD, and a filter is around $24-28. So I would spend around $55.

i was about to ask where you get a diesel filter for 5 bucks, then it occured to me that the filter must be worthless.

Bigwoody is right, if your not paying at least $50 dollars for an oil change, you are either getting cheap parts, or you have a $7 dollar an hour monkey with a tool near your second largest investment. Do it yourself or pay extra.

As far as the dealer goes there are just as many monkeys there, they can usually change oil but you might as well go in with your pants down b/c your going to take it up the rear.

So I'm just curious, anybody have problems at a Jiffy Lube in Statesville or Lincolnton between maybe 2002 to last year? I used to work with a guy or owned 3 Jiffy Lubes..I think that was 2 of them. He talked about how the price of an oil change was high but it was a lot faster than waiting at walmart. I always thought the guy was pretty honest.....course he had a mental breakdown like a year and a half ago, so everything isn't right upstairs for him...lol.

We had someting like this recently happened up here in New York. My girlfriend who is Chinese (and does not fully comprehend the English language) took her car to a local Jiffy Lube for a simple oil change. She had just purchased this car that same day and it still had all the new car paperwork still stuck on the windows. I guess she didn't understand that a new car should not need an oil change right away and she did this without asking me first.

Anyway, I saw the Jiffy Lube bill and it was over three hundred dollars which she charged to her credit card. Apparently they told her that her car needed everything changed including the windshield wipers. I had looked at this car before she took it there and it didn't need anything. I stormed down to the store, slammed the receipt down on the counter and demanded to see the manager.

The manager comes out and looks at the receipt but just blows me off saying that she agreed to have the work done. He does however recall her as he was the one who spoke to her. I told this yard ape that he knew she wouldn't have even understood what the work to be done was and that he must have enough intelligence to know this was a new car freshly driven off the sales lot and did not need any of the work. It still had the original wipers and I doubt any of the other work was actually done but he doesn't want to hear anymore from me.

He throws the receipt back at me and says that if I don't like it, I can call the district office. I ask him for the number and he says, "Find it yourself, we're busy!", and walks back into his office.

What this idiot didn't know is that I am a cop and I went right into my station, filed a report, located a number for the district Jiffy Lube and advised them that our police department was investigating a fraud complaint at one of their stores. The woman on the phone wants to know who the complainant is. I can hear the phone drop as I tell her it is me. Now I get attention. Rolling Eyes She advises me that they will take care of the matter immediately.

To make a long story short, the manager got fired (turns out he had a drug habit and was arrested soon after anyway) and we received a partial refund. They still charged us for the oil change which seemed fair.

This is not the first time I've heard of fraud complaints involving Jiffy Lube in stations near my area. I usually change my own oil and will never go to a Jiffy Lube ever! Mad

From another forum I browse. That thread is less then a week old too
