Having all four of my wisdom cut out next week. Doctors said they will be all easy to get to and remove. My biggest concern is eating....now I know I won't be able to eat much...for those of you that have had yours out..what did you eat for a couple days?

Asprin and Crown Royal

It was a pain (pardon the pun) and I didn't feel up to eating anything.

My biggest fear was dry socket. Didn't want that at all. But I remember a lot of soup, and dribbling in the days following the big yank.

had all 4 of mine done last week and must have been lucky i ate pizza that night. thank god no dry sockets and i smoke. they cut all mine out not pulled. they gave me enough pain medicine i didnt feel bad but a couple hours.

I think it comes down the quality and skill level of the dentist/oral surgeon...having my wisdom teeth out was a great experience...I was that messed up and it was legal. Although my dentist said he never operated on anyone my size before, so the dosages were experimental. I never had any pain, never needed any of the prescribed pain meds, and I ate what I wanted as well.

You'll hear a lot of horror stories...glad to see the group here is taking it easy. :)

I had mine done...well, about 20 years ago. Had a burger that night. Nothing to it.

I got a good tip when I had mine done years ago. Bite down on a tea bag instead of a gauze pad to help with the bleeding. Something in the tea helps stop the bleeding, and it tastes pretty good too.

had all four of mine cut out. It was a breeze. Once the numbing from surgery wore off, i didnt even take anything else. I have a high tolerance for pain.

For me, it was just annoyingly uncomfortable. I was able to eat normal food.

When you wake up with the overwelming urge to swallow...DONT. your mouth will be full of gauze.

Had all four of mine and went to the beach that night. Nothing to it except had perfect hand shaped bruise on both cheeeks a few days later.

I had one yanked in Iraq with no pain killers, the pain of leaving it there was worse than it coming out with two coreman holding me down. Youll be fine.

Funny thing is my ex-wife's uncle was a dentist in Russia for years before coming here. He told me when I had mine pulled that in Russia they NEVER pull them. According to him, wisdom teeth are just something that dentists pull here to make extra cash. He used to laugh and say, "That's why they call them wisdom teeth. The dentist has to pay for all the wisdom he took loans out for in dental school."

I obviously have no way of verifying this at this point.

I had a pretty bad exprience...but mine was a weird situation...it was growing under my other teeth and had bcome some wat fused to my jaw bone.

Even still think I ate 4 pain pills.

Wife had 3 of hers done at one time and ate regular food at lunch. Never needed painkillers, she said the pain of the teeth was over once they came out.

i apparently have some cavities in mine, Dentist says 1 probably needs a root canal but getting in there to do it is... impossible... so at least 1 needs to come out. the others only partially ever grew in. Apparently my mouth is pretty small, and having them there is just cramming the others together.
i've been hearing from dentists for 15 years that they'll probably be problems and eventually need to come out.
I always ask,"Is it a problem now? Is there some reason they need to come out right now?"
Answer always, "Well, no, but they COULD cause problems..."
My response, "Well then we'll worry about that later when its actually a problem, then."

If you're sore, you won't feel like eating anyway. Two of mine were rooted into my sinus cavity. One of the bottom was sideways. The other was just pulled out normally. I didn't eat for a couple of days. Then soup was my friend.

If yours are normal, you shouldn't turn away a big cheeseburger. Good luck on the pulling, and remember, Gas is your friend!

I had 4 wisdoms and 2 molars cut out all at once. The put me out to do it. They had to chisel arches in my jaw bones to get them out as the root had grown bigger than the tooth head. They stitched my gums over the sockets. They had to keep me out for a long time to do the chiseling and I was extremely loopy for the rest of the day. They gave me a script for Oxycontin 40s and told me to fill it on the way home. I went home and went to sleep. I woke up about 6 hours later due to pain (from the chiseling). I took one of the OC40s and woke up the next day. I drank milkshakes and ate soft pizza for 3-4 days and slept a lot.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a good surgeon.

Found out that 2 of mine are soft, one is partial and one is difficult. Surgeon said there shouldn't be any problem and that I am only looking at about 20 min. of surgery. I am gonna be under, so whatever...I am just sick of the headaches...I am actually looking forward to Thursday morning. Already got my perscriptions filled...

anyways, doctor said, I probably had 4-6 months that I could wait...but with the pain that I am in...I want them out now. So I took the soonest appointment.

Most of everyone that I talked to said that it wasn't that bad...more uncomfortable than anything.

we'll see.....

I had all four of mine pulled and it was no prob. Cant remember what I ate but didnt really have any issues. Doc gave me some painkillers and I got some cold ones and had a blast. I'm a dipper too and dipped the next day, never got any of the dry socket or anything bad

Welp...had my surgery today. wasn't that bad....more uncomfortable than anything. My bottom jaws and teeth are steel numb and my bottom lip looks like I got a bad injection of botox and the numbness is starting to wear off. All in all....not as bad as I thought it would be...but it still pretty much sucks. I am hungry as hell, but the bleeding hasn't completely stopped and like I said, I am still numb.

Went well though, one of them was a little harder to get out according to the doc...but said I did great.

Thanks guys for all your stories...it really did help calm my nerves a bit.

I hear if you have all 4 of them pulled at once you will have the same IQ as a woman! And that's ALL I'm saying on that!

almost been a week since having my four wisdom teeth removed and while im not in any pain....i still have like flaps and what feel like stitches still in my gums....i thought theyd disolved by now????

Gargle some paint thinner, that will help them dissolve...
