I work where im given a phone to use as a work phone and i can also use it as my personal phone. That said i had a contract with Verizon and didn't feel like dealing with switching everything over. well now my personal phone is on the verge of dying for good and am considering switching everything onto company phone. company is pretty layed back so i dont think they will be looking threw my texts and what not but still concerned about my privacy and what i use it for personal use. Has or does anyone use their company phone as a personal phone and have they had any problems. The only other problem i can see arising is the company total only has 60 GB of data for the whole company but i think they are only using 6-10 total now so shouldnt be a problem.

I still keep both. When I came on board in 1995 I (thought) I was a lifer here, but got burnt out after 10 years. Spent 4 away and now I'm back...but still....

I rolled the first phone number I ever had (before cell phones) over to my cell number back in 2000 and have that ever since. Just easier for everyone to get ahold of me, PLUS I put my work phone down when I get home and I'm DONE with work. Helps keep my work at work and my home at home

That's just me though

Keep them separate...1) all it takes is one pissed off IT dude to flag you for looking at Shawn's UPS delivery guy on a work phone and you could be gone. 2) It'll force you to constantly check emails and whatnot for work, when you're not working. You won't think it will, but it'll happen.

You can download apps that take over texting for you, so unless someone had physical access to your phone they are not looking at your texts because the carrier report wont show anything.

the first doesnt bother me at all we are a fairly small company and they know i look at stuff on here and facebook threw out the day. the second which seems to be what everyone is saying i see that as a possible problem but most of the people i contract threw the day are semi local and are leaving their offices around the same time i leave.

You could use your personal phone and get reimbursed by the office, or have them get you a dual sim phone, and put both numbers and accounts on the same phone.

I'd rather have control over my own phone and get reimbursed. If you go with the office phone, keep your old number and use a service to redirect the number to your work phone.

Have my work and personal keep on me daily I'd keep them separate.

Ive carried two phones for 15 years now.

Everyone is different, but for me, I know at some point I am going to want to talk to another company about a job opportunity. Even if not interested I pursue something with a recruiter once a year just to keep interviewing skills sharp and reinforce how good I have it. If I did that on an employer's phone I would feel like I am stealing. Plus lets say you work there 5+ years and everyone knows that number. One day company goes belly up. Any idea how many people will not know how to get in touch with you? I guess facebook solves the second issue, but I wouldnt know never been on it.

I dont understand the popular notion in this thread about not checking work emails after hours. Hell I want to know what I am walking into in the morning. Plus it is a very Prussian concept. That of work time and off time. If I want to take off in the middle of a day and go fishing or do something with my kids I do it. I dont tell anyone, I dont ask anyone. I do it. Likewise if work "needs" me at 9:30 pm I am available. I dont work and live. Work is just a part of my life and it fits where it falls.

So I'm seeing keep both and separate..... Except I'm gonna use work phone for music while driving/lake/wheeling... Gotta get some extra benefit out of it if I'm gonna carry it

No harm in that what so ever...I just wouldn't use the work phone for anything super personal.

I use my personal phone for a GPS all the time....and my work phone to make calls and look up stuff while my personal one is in the cradle as the GPS...even on vacations/weekends. SOMETIMES 2 phones is very handy

Google maps saved me from being stuck on I-40 at mocksville for 20 min yesterday....5 miles before the log-jam it suggested I take 601 and save time. I couldn't see any backup as I was taking the offramp, but once I got to the top I saw the massive backup waiting to merge to one lane. I LOVE google maps!

I keep both. I use the company's data for streaming music and football games. I don't like the idea that the company can go through my phone. I've got some salty memes that need to stay tucked away from their view.

edit: and also if I know you only have one phone I'm sending all that shit to you.

I use my personal phone for work and write off 90%

My job pays up to 100 a month for my phone. I would much rather have it that way. Most tech companies and others have moved to BYOD (bring your own device) so they don't have to manage it.

I wish mine was. As others have said I've had the same number for 10 years alot of people know it. Take that with the good and the bad still have a crazy ex call every now and then

How big is the company?
Have you considered just asking them if they would cover half your bill?
