Work truck build

I will before long.

What kind of money have you got invested in that thing? Material wise, obviously, labor would be quite a bit.

Roughly, $2700 parts/materials. . Could have saved some here and there in hindsight, but it's damn close to how I pictured it in my head a cpl months back. If I had to guess on labor probably 125 hours, but I am one ocd, meticulous bastard. ... next one will go much faster.

Woof....still wayyyy cheaper and better built than buying one though, plus it looks 20x better. Kinda like aftermarket bumpers nowadays, they're all huge and bulky and I think they all look stupid. I like simple...like a Warn Classic.

I hear you on the OCD part. I'm pretty sure I have a touch of Autism with my OCD, so I might have you beat!

The more I look at this thread, the more I want a flat bed on my K30. I see no reason why it shouldn't have one!

Right on.

Should have some finished pics in a cpl days. Finished the bed wiring tonight. Only thing left to do is put boxes back on, wire my light bar and work lights to outfitter switches and repaint wheels, front bumper, and a little something on the hood.

I do intend to build a console also.

Aside from a few cosmetic details; touch up, over spray, black out center of hood, consoles, new spate tire mounted. ... it's done. I'm very pleased with the outcome.

I'll get some night pics soon, along with hood blacked out and console.

That is also badass!

I'm pretty sure that'll be efficient!!! Great work bud!!!!

I'm getting 11.5, with a trailer, empty or full. Sounds awful but in reality is as good as my 08 lmm dmax; especially considering this truck is geared 4.30, has 19.5's, and weighs in with driver and full of fuel at 10,300lbs.

Mods are- h&s mini Maxx, deleted pipes and egr, s&b intake, cold air charge tube, Rudy's up pipes, new/rebuilt pumps/turbos/coolers/injectors and other accessories. Turns 2250 rpm @ 70 mph empty or loaded. Haven't run a tank out yet w/out trailer to get an unladen/no trailer mpg.

For comparison the chevy mods are- h&s mini Maxx, deleted egr and filter, factory air box, geared 3.73, 225/70-17 tires and weighs in at around 8200lbs. On a good day towing it gets 11.5-12.5 turning 1950rpm at 70 mph loaded. Unladen without trailer, best tank mpg has been 17.5.

If anyone's interested I'll give my ford/Chevy towing comparison. That will take a few pages. ..

That just looks awesome! I bet it's one of the more powerful work trucks running around :D No doubt that it'll scoot, even if it does weigh 5 tons!

Yea its pretty impressive. Don't know whether it's the gear or twins, but it really moves from the line and roll on pulls. No lag when pulling uphill, out from behind an otr truck with 15g's behind me. Not knocking my chevy, it still serves me well and could stand a few more upgrades, but 3.73 gear doesn't get it like a 4.30 does-(and doesn't need to down shift). The ford feels as light or lighter than the chevy, giving that nod to stiffer suspension and again the gear. Super stable with a load.

Saw this truck yesterday doing it's duty! The pics do not tell of the thought that went into it. SOLID! build. Purpose built, and does the job. This thread is awesome, but seeing up close, the pictures and the read do not do it justice! OCD at it's finest!
