I get off of work for Presidents day and MLK day, but not for Good Friday, how is that??

I am supposed to be working, but the battery crapped out on the company truck so I am getting paid to sit in a waiting room and use Wifi...

Work in car dealership. Holidays are always big for us. We get Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th, and New Years day. Can be off other holidays but it takes off our vacation or personal time. Not complaining tho! I've got it pretty good where I'm at:)

At work... Hell we only get thanksgiving and Christmas off!

working here...

our only official days are:
New Years Day
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

I have to work all holidays that fall on my shift but any holiday the city recognizes gets added into my vacation bank so I end up with five 9 day vacations a year and it will go up to 6 this coming year.

Because working Christians don't get in an uproar if they don't have a holiday.

MLK day, however... (Which, for the record, we don't get off either)

You can count on Rich, always brings the funny :) Usually with a little truth thrown in for good measure!

We get...

New Years Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
4th of July
Labor Day
Thanksgining Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day

And 3 Personal Days, + our vacation, 80 hours to 240 hours, depending on years of service.

We get Christmas. Period.

I was heading out with the wife today and we came up to a school bus dropping kids off. I said "WTF, why are they going to school on Saturday" Wife reminded me it was Friday
Forsyth county had school today.

Worked today, working tomorrow, and Easter. OT is never worth it though. A few years ago Christmas fell on a Saturday and I was working at 4AM. I realized part way through that I was only getting paid time and a half since it was a Saturday and not an actual holiday. That did it in for me. Funny I still work a crap ton of holidays and weekends. Field service sucks like that.

The company I work for doesn't give days off for holidays. Unless it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, we've gotta work no matter what the occasion. The wife REALLY hates it too, especially me having to work on Christmas.

They do give us our birthday off with pay though...

For the first time in 2 years, I have to work on Easter Sunday too. We're normally open Sunday's anyway, but my granny is gunna be mad that I can't come have lunch with them!!!

Easter isn't actually a Federal holiday, so they don't have to give it to us....but I really doubt we'll have much business.

um because the first two are Federal holidays, Good Friday is a religious day, if you were say Jewish or Hindi you wouldn't give a rats ass about it

I didn't get the day off either but I took it

Beauty of working for the feds - ALL fed holidays off - columbus day, presidents day, etc

-but not Christmas eve or Easter

(Although they do "randomly" announce at say 3 pm that everybody gets 59 minutes "admin leave" begnning 4 pm on days like Christmas eve or new Years eve) - woohoo an extra hour early, which you get to spend stuck in the throngs of traffic all leaving at once
