Anyone going to the World Beer Festival in Raleigh this weekend? Over 250 beers to try, plus food and music. Should be a good time! :beer::beer::beer:
 
Cant go wrong with Lone Rider. or any NC made beer.


Once you go to some of the smaller beer fests, you will not want to go to the raleigh or durham world beer fests. Your not herded into tents with a shitton of people to wait in line to sample a beer.
 
We went to the first one in Raleigh (for my birthday!)... 4 years ago? Whenever it was... it was only $25 and the 'glass' was actually made of glass... we also went to the one in Durham in 2008. It is a blast, but kind of once you've been... you've been. You can only actually 'taste' anything for the first half, then you're drunk and your tongue is fuzzy, which defeats the purpose. I can't drink $10 worth of beer in an hour, anyway, and definitely not for four hours straight.

If you're new to the 'craft beer' thing, it is a good chance to learn a lot in a short time... and it is definitely fun! But... if you don't like crowds or overpriced (think state fair) food, visit the breweries or smaller festivals. Or find a good store that sells a lot of beers and try them at your own pace.
 
I agree the smaller festivals are a lot better for tastings, I am a homebrewer so any chance I get to learn more about making beer I will take it. Plus, got tickets to the Widespread Panic show Sat. night. So, I thought I would check out the beer fest and then head to the WSP show. :beer:
 
I had intended on going but waited too long for tickets, looks like the next one is in October.

LOL. There could be worse problems to have.

Our trip to the Durham beerfest was with a friend who brews... that was the most educational 4 hours of my life. :beer:
 
I have been to the brewfest in gso for the last 4 yrs. Its on the agenda for this yr too. My wife drops us off and picks us up, no driving involved. This is followed by so groceries on the grill , I've already started planning the menu. Good times:beer:
