The YouTube thread sparked this thought...but then the wife just now wanted to watch some show on roku about being YouTube famous (called Fake Famous)
Watching these 4000 people apply for 3 positions this production company is offering to promote and make these 3 people instantly famous in a social experiment.

These people are desperate to be famous. Mostly kids under 25. VERY narcissistic. All about how they DESERVE to be famous.
I use to slap the phone out of my girls hands for taking so many damn selfies. But now....I realize, my girls were incredibly shy and modest compared to most everyone (more girls than guys) else.
Me personally...I've never wanted fame. I like making people smile...but don't believe I'm important or better than anyone else.

What say you?

I have a cousin that’s my same age. He’s told me I need a YouTube channel, to go on tv shows with him and to start a travel business. I personally don’t want any of that, don’t care to be in the public eye and sure as hell don’t want to deal with the public first hand. He’s trying very hard to become famous via tik toc. I feel bad for him, he’s not funny. Nothing against those that do want to be famous or have a YouTube channel. If my tv is on it’s usually on YouTube.

I like sharing my opinion too much to be famous, and it doesn't align well with the red team or the blue team, so ill probably never go pro.

Have to admit. I'd totally watch a reality show about your life....
I assume it would be a cross between Home Improvement and Leave it to Beaver

For 5 minutes to cash the check...
Then I’d spend the proceeds changing my face, name and sink into the shadows independent wealthy to never be heard form again

I don’t care.

If I do something that gets me famous I guess I’d accept it? Stranger shit has happened.
When I first got Instagram I thought I could post a pic with a caption daily about my Jeep or whatever and get to a point where I’d be able to earn a little for parts and whatnot. Then I learned what that ACTUALLY means and it annoyed the hell out of me.

Famous nope. Respected, definitely. It's my current perspective more fame equals less real respect. Even if you deserve respect the more "popular you are the less genuine respect you get".

No,just wealthy.I probably wouldn't be famous for long once they figured out what an opinionated asshole I can be.

Cussing, drinking and throwing wrenches doesn't make good tv.
I don't know about that

Vice grip garage is gaining viewership daily on that platform

There is a decent viewership base for modern trade/farm stuff on YouTube to the point that my wife and I have considered starting to film some of the projects and general fuckery we get into around her family farm. Not with the goal to be famous, but to cash in on the ad revenue if it grew enough just to help pay the operating costs. Her dad who is a very quiet and humble man was blown away at the economics of even moderately popular YT channels. Then I remember how toxic the Internet is and how money fucks with family dynamics and just go about our lives and sharing it with friends occasionally on IG.

Welker farms and Cole the corn star seem to handle it pretty good. Those are two I watch. Both are pretty conservative and the Welkers were even visible Trump supporters. It suprised me that they wouldn't try to conceal that.

I used to do that with IG, give a glimpse of my home life to those that followed me. I got to the point that I realized that if they've never even been to my house to hang out, why even bother. If they want to see my daily life outside of work they should stop by and SEE it. Shortly after that I deleted the app and have never been back. This is technically my only form of social media.

I don't care about being famous, I just wish I had been smart enough to get paid stupid money for doing trivial things before it became cool. Now if you try you're just trying to be the next so and so.

Famous? Face it. 99.99999999% of the population won't be remembered past two generations. Unless you help create the greatest country in the world (G. Washington) or kill a few million people (you know who).

Napoleon or Busch?

Edit: my bad I’m an idiot, Joe Camel, final answer

Leave it to Beaver? Unless you’re talking about this episode:

Famous as in constantly on TV, having to host podcasts, being on interviews?
Shit no.

I despise the thought of even being photographed.
Being well known within a group, club or hobby is one thing, but collecting attention beyond that makes me extremely nervous. Any attention is bad attention.

Derek on Vice Grip Garage is my hero. That guy is living the dream. I am neither funny nor interesting though, so nobody would watch me work on stuff.

I have no desire to be famous. I have tried three times unsuccessfully to create a fake Failbook account just so I can use marketplace.

Does Redlyner have a youtube channel? He doesn't post much on here anymore. Is he still racing that white TJ? I ran into him at the Flats a couple of times years ago when that thing was mildly modified on some 37" Pitbulls.

He is my spirit animal. I wish I was as clever as him. He has such a fantastic dry humor.

I'm sure he has a youtube channel...but I usually stalk.....err I mean see him on Instagram. Still has the TJ...but he's got a full on race buggy now as well.
